I’ve thought of joining now I’ve got some post Covid NZ plans.
    What are the benefits?
Does membership give you health insurance for stuff with ropes and pointy sharp toys?

I can’t recall what the current insurance options are for non kiwi nzac members. It has changed a lot in the last few years due to insurer issues.

I think it might currently be insurance options for non kiwis doing mountain sports in nz only. Not included with membership though. Used to be much better insurance options.

Big discounts on alpine huts and backcountry hut passes, including reciprocal with euro huts.

Tarras NZ, haven't been on any club trips lately but have kept up the membership because I love the work the club does.

I let my NZAC membership lapse this year because I'm not able to go to NZ. But it's a good organisation. They offer a lot if you're in NZ for social meetings and trips / education. Membership pays for itself (and more) if you're going to do a trip to Mt Cook hut system. Don't know what the Australian section does, but probably only really beneficial if you want to go to NZ or use the discounts in reciprocal hut systems overseas.

Summer climbing camp are very good, even if you just drink a whisky in the sun looking at the alps; Mt Cook plateau ski touring camp is extremely good. Strong networking; great Lodges & Huts.
