Watsons gorge Creek should be good to go unless they have a one metre tonight. The dumps this year have been favoring Southerly aspects with NW winds. This is unlike last year where the snow was accumulating on northerly aspects with southerly winds.

This week has been little winds so western sides will be good.

The worst avo danger IMO is the top EAST face of Twynam and of course Blue lake cornice. Although I would never stand on top of that Cornice. RIP brother.

Always make you own decisions about safety. But there is always a safe entry into all the runs off siren song.

Caveman check AAA in the morning. It might be clearer on the western side.

Went for a drive up buffalo. Got up to road closure around 515. Was snowing well above 1500m, heavy sleet above 1300.

First time up buffalo. What a road, what a landscape. That view from the gorge unreal

Buffalo is a cool place; used to be a serious ski area. Neglected by Vic. gov't and others. Pity, but the plateau is still there.

Yeah, yesterday at work in Melb, I was convinced Buller would get another 30cm. Then the "blob" went north and missed!!

has missed most of the Vic resorts.
Looks like a dusting at best at falls but hard to tell in the darkness of the cams currently, will have to wait another hour.
The juice on the radar went north and has dried up since. Good inland rain for the central vic farmers though.
Hoping the ECL can develop and wrap some more moisture around and push it up today.
Unfortunately can't see any love for buller but Hotham/Falls and NSW ail be in the firing range.

Cheers Chowder. All up, when you consider the "ElNino" predictions there is still plenty of runs to keep me happy. Far from the best I've skied at Buller, but certainly a long way from the worst, hell, in 2006 I did not even ski!

100% thats Aussie snow conditions, have to take the good with the bad.
All up its been an ok season, especially as you say, all the doomsdayers at the start of the year, you'd think it would actually never snow again.
Enjoy and fingers crossed you get some freshies the next few days.

Yeh that blob heading up the NSW coast I thought might have been a bit more west and hit the Nth Vic and NSW resorts.
Showers are streaming up Gippsland and might drop a few CM's but nothing substantial at the moment. Least its very cold with the resorts at -2.

    Feels colder than it is.

    Spitting light rain

Enough to be annoying and wear raincoat if you have one.

Looks like we have had 2-3cm wet snow around the 1700 mark IMO.

Wind stiff but not that bad really.

    Blowing from the South

Low visibility and looks poor over at Mt P.

Put the kettle on and consider a late start if you do not have to be here early.

Like yesterday starting 11ish you may miss the drizzle.

Next point of interest is the cloud mass heading in a northerly direction from below Hobart. But southerly unlikley to do anything worthwhile in NSW resorts IMO.

Baw Baw got 15cm from this according to their website. Going by overnight observations and cams, there was a bit of cold rain last night which would affect the surface, but there is still snow on the road in the village so certainly a net gain.

Carveman, not sure when you arrived in camp, but you may have seen 2 mates pass through on Tuesday on their way out to camping on the western faces. Spoke to them this morning - they reported 10cm of blower falling early morning, then the SW winds picked up and now south/western faces all scoured out. Apparently clear and windy on the western side atm - hope you get some good turns in!

    Very spring like today.

Made the mistake of going for a look at farm creek, snow was soft and was that sticky it felt like riding on rubber.

The "Crying Belinda" system bought enough of white whatever to see us through what should be an excellent September.

Eased up a little now but trying hard to deliver some dryness.

I was surprised just how thin the cover is in a lot of placed today, there's holes opening up in a lot of places, I think maby because of strange direction a lot of the snow came from this year?

Most of what fell Monday night washed away Wednesday night
Was very wet snow , has been warm so it melted a lot quicker than from a colder SW system

Snowing, wetly but vertically, almost (but not quite) accumulating on the lodge railing and driveway at Smiggins (1650m). Had snowed reasonably between 4-5pm but then stopped and cleared to blue skies, so a happy surprise to see this bit more falling now.
