Showers coming through jindabyne at 6c. Should be ok above 1600m for a little snow tonight
There have been snow showers on and off in Perisher since 4:30pm. Starting to settle now though. These pics were taken about 20 minutes ago...
Currently just below zero with no wind.
Ok you doubting Thomas's
My last day at CP was wicked. Started off with a nice 10cm layer of dry snow, sun was out, sky was blue, everyone making lines & wooping it up The cover softened through the day but was still great. Untracked snow developed a crusty layer in places but was still great to ride - even my kids (first week ever on snow) could ski it! Around 3.30 I hiked out to the peak that is skiers right of the chair (Mt Stillwell?) & slid down to the dam (which I nearly rode straight into!) The snow there was sugary & made that lovely tinkling sound as it slid down the hill behind me Got back to the village & lapped the t-bar until closing. Untracked snow was a bit grippy in places, & becoming quite crystaline in the shade - in fact it was so sharp that a minor stack resulted in a grazed chin!
Here's some pics >
Ok so dropbox links not working - put them on photobucket >
Looks crap...... just kidding
Some more pics - Guthries approx 11am then my hike @ approx 4pm
Sounds like you had a blast today.
Good sport for posting them.
CP and Thredbo look to have got more than Perisher.
Where are the photos of 'the nice 10cm of dry snow'?
3.5C and raining upon arrival in Jindabyne.
Looking good for tomorrow.
So it's 8cm according to CP report. Killer day. Just riding freshies with my kids (on skis, first time on snow) was a magical experience > https://www.facebook.com/skithepass/posts/10153575021964894
Dusting at LM overnight. Dusting always better than clear snow.
And the fan gun is on too.
Yup. 3 deg in Narby at 7am. Should be pretty cold up there
-2C and sunny in Smiggins car park this morning. A bit of a breeze about.
I reckon 3 to 5cm of fresh overnight
That was yesterday ?
-6 at Bull this morning and all guns blazing overnight (and dam now full).Very slick. Been maybe month without any snowfall greater than a couple of cents here and there so little snow pack left
Snowing lightly at buller .
Closed in and snow a bit heavier now. No appreciable accumulation though.
Can see it in the cams. Looks very light on for natural cover.
Mate stop telling everyone, next thing you know there will be lift queues and it will just be like Perisher
Nothing to see up here
Pretty much wet snow all day from about 10:30 at Buller.
Net zero accumulation though, snow quite sticky.
Sunny all day at Perisher, and cold.
Lightly snowing in Thredbo Village now.
Was a weird day. I don't think I've seen it persistently snow like today (3+ hours) with no accumulation - BOM had the temps well -ve. Was it humidity or snow type? Still awesome just to see some snow. Flurries sticking outside just now.
Just very wet snow. I guess the uppers were not very cold.
Few snowflakes blowing around in Smiggins (1650m) too just now - not settling or really snowing in a meaningful manner but definitely snowing.
Snowing Thredbo village.
Does that mean first chair for you?
Barring hooking up with Miranda Kerr tonight, yes.
How did that work out for you? Did you drop he home before the babysitter had to leave?
At Smiggins: Overcast, not snowing now but the tiniest of snow accumulations on the parked cars. Nothing on the roads, lodge railings or trees Slight breeze.
Fine. I don't kiss and tell.
I'll still be on first chair though
-2C and mostly cloudy in the Perisher car park this morning.
Doesn't look like any precip overnight.
Overcast here at Buller. Perhaps a light dusting but nothing more.
Light snow becoming a little heavier at Thredbo. Not too breezy.
Appears no freeze o/n at least to the top of The Gun Barrel
The Thredbo blue bird has arrived now
Cloud has mostly burnt off here in at Buller. Good visibility all round.
Already a difference of 10c in 4 hrs at perisher. -7.7@ 6am now 2.8.
Yup it was Friday - I posted it Friday night.
