Thredbo only got 25 then
I observe that I'm starting to get excited about my Perisher trip in a few weeks time
I wanted 80 by tomorrow
Think there's another 10 left in it for tonight Donz?
maybe , with wind etc
Still flurries in the air at Leesville, it be cold cold
bit of a blob SW of tassie could be that trough on the synops
It's still snowing reasonably well near penderlea so must be something happening up top......windy but.
Perisher has around 75 now, be interesting to see depth on Thursday after all the snow has settled, still be over 120 base. 45 lifts if wind dies off. Still gusting to 55kmh. Thredbo up top will be close to whatever Perisher gets, remember the Perisher measurement is at the Valley, up top , where they measure it could be a lot more. and the main range, may have got up to a metre.
Still reckon there's 10cm overnight / early tomorrow.
Perhaps will favour the south though.
Looks to be coming down hard at Perisher going by the cams. BOM Obs showing steady 0.2mm falls every half hour....
Edit: Must be increasing now
Been good fall another 10+ overnight the base wiil freeze solid season saver IMO Minus 7 at Thredbo top serious wind chill wind loading looking good for August riding
looks calm and benign at Perisher
Just brought some wood in and blowing snow still in Jindabyne at 1c
BTW, was also snowing at Berridale on the way home.
Not snowing at Thredbo. Doesn't even seem very windy. Only about a cm since 4pm.
I'll be interested to hear what CM has to say but the first hand report I just got was that the snowfalls at Buller have been underwhelming and they are talking about holding a Mogul comp next weekend on Bourke St
Footage of today's conditions at FC. Shows the road going up at 8:30 and back down at 14:30
I observed a very appt song for FC
Nah, Indian and Chinese day trippers.
lucky you like NSW now
Fizznami at Buller.
Barry noice for PV....
I was out clearing some pathways as it got dark (Thredbo). By the time I finished and turned around; the pathway was covered again with snow.
The village is -6 now and the tree branches out my window are moving so there is still some wind. I can see clear across the valley at the groomer on HighNoon. Eagles Nest and karella are just visible through the windblown. Can't see any stars.
Stay on topic.
Barry brought a whole lot of lovin' to Perisher - 70cm so far and still delivering. He truly is the Barry White of snow systems.
was always going to be this way
Another 10 overnight for PV based on the radar IMO. Light and dry at -5 in the village and -6.7 up top. Love that wind to keep blowing in from the main range and building some drifts. A 1+ metre base should make for some good skiing next weekend.
Snowing again at Falls Creek according to F'book.
Back country Tassie is going to get a good dose of #barry
Mawson (the entire Mt field area actually) will be getting smashed.
A bare foot walk outside the lodge confirms it's nice and dry at Smiggins.
Wow that song is so FC
I think the gauge at Perisher is unreliable , it seems to have frozen like the Thredbo top site.
for what its worth - BOM (MetEye) is still saying snowfalls from Buller to Selwyn and everything in between till around 4pm Monday.
Buller's definitely had some more overnight looking at the VS cam.
I agree Thredbo would have seen similar amounts to what Perisher is reporting. Bluff was loaded. Similar in Basin and Sponars.
19.2 mm in gauge @ Perisher at 6 am. Temp is -5.4 & wind @ 55k equates to a windchill of about -35. Balmy!
I'm happy with barry - season starter for us down here - 20-30cm over the weekend fri arvo to yesterday .. looking good for follow up snow this week too .. so we are up and going from nothing on friday morning .. thanks BAZ
Perisher is reporting 20cm in the past 24 hours making 83.2cm in total for the past 7 days. I also observe that EC got this one right.
Looking out the windows, perisher looks to be clearing to blue sky. The sun's just hitting the top of smigs
Snowguns still going at Smiggins
Dry, sweet, deep, untracked, no crowds, cold temps, Aussi snow doesn't get much better.
What a Lovely Day
Gauge still ticking slowly but surely at Baw Baw.
