Radar showing showers heading up off Western Port and heading to Noojee and beyond. Should be getting a bit today as temps are -1.5C.

Some precip on the cams down at Gully, Inter, Falls Express, and looking plenty dark. Temps are saying -3C right now, so maybe a sneaky few cms for Falls this arvo? Radar shows it's dry though, at least outside of the hills...

Sitting in merrits at lunch and young lovey yells out "hot chocolate for Barry". I had a laugh.

I observe some cheeky snow showers at Thredbo now. Not amounting to much but could be a couple if cm tonight.

Currently camped at Bluff Hut on Stirling. Snow cover from TBJ to here. Sleet/light snow all afternoon, but I more than1cm. Not all that cold out either.

The system with the everyday name trumps the vortex and the nami.

Looking at obs looks like Baw Baw got hit with some serious r**n overnight. Still a net gain since yesterday so the base will be nice and solid.

Hotham and Falls look like they did very well - latest report showing almost all of Falls is open.

Not convinced they got a lot of rain. There's still a lot of snow in the trees and if it was rain, that would have gone.
I'm guessing there was a bit of snow melt in the gauge. That AWS is always a bit dodgy. IMO

agreed cc.....the baw baw AWS freezes with wind at 0 degrees and water at around -2 and then as the snow thaws you will get a bigger delayed reading. the hotham rain guage is useless below about 0 but the wind works even at serious negs

Intermittent light snow showers and flurries in Thredbo all morning. Conditions under foot are light and dry. Cover extensive. As expected...

This system of sunday early morning onwards was productive..
it was wet and cold down in Tawonga Sth at General Store...roads were wet with water in drains and it kept it up for some time..it snowed on rodeo in Camp Creek Gap (wettish snow) but dry powder up at Michelles Hut..it was snowing as I came out with Bears down Eskdale..it was blowing/sleeting and cold...definite increase of ground cover after this event probably a foot of snow over 48hours above 1.500m...Vortex was a bit of a fizzer....this was a good frontal system with moisture and it was cold and sustained...:p

Baw Baw"s Old Chairlift Cam has beautiful icicles seen on side of roof the bottom of which appears to have a water droplet suggesting air temp at zero or above at present..
Icicles are a work of contempory art say Team Bears...

I observe this thread has over 50,000 views. Go #barry!

Beautiful winters day in Sydney today. Sunshine, crisp air and slight breeze. Air quality was great too - could clearly see from where I work (Frenchs Forest) the detail of the city/beaches/blue mountains

Night 2 on Stirling- today there was light snow on and off all day. Maybe 2cm total up top over 24 hours. Clouds starting to part so it should be a chilly one tonight.

Very nice Carvin, looks like a few of my favourite stomping grounds. At about the 3:30 mark is that the Paralyser?

I'd have to say a lot of this footage does look nice, but the terrain does seem to look very flat

Steeps are there, but definitely not long, but always the trade off. Long walk for long steeps and less runs. Short walk for short steeps and lots of runs.
