Warm day in Melbourne today.
Here it comes
First night since may no fire on here in jindabyne.
I observe a very warm, sunny weekend here in Sydney with beaches packed full.
I also observe virtually no one will be thinking about snow trips up here from now on. Weekends like the one just gone (and also that weekend back in late August when it hit 25+ degrees here in Sydney on the Saturday) will ensure numbers are VERY low for the remainder of the season. Watch the lift closures come in a big way from now on. Perisher cams looked very quiet on the weekend I must admit, although Thredbo may have taken a lot of punters away from P with the One Hit Wonder festival going on.......
Chance of a rumble in Melbs this arvo on the change line.
Fingers crossed we get a good storm season spring 2015.
Hairy dryer in Thredbo ATM
26C in Melbourne. Winds howling in from the N, starting to see a bit of NW there.
Avalon has hit 29C!
Warm and a light breeze in the BMs.. Would be happy if we missed the wind.
Perisher cams show the cover holding up well but wow, talk about ghost town. Apart from FV it's dead IMO
I observe a balmy evening in the city with a change looming over the bay....
The snow in Perisher has taken on the texture of a suede lizard ... but the weather is lovely and the place is deserted.
Hmmm ..... Looks wet. imo.
Was some flashes over the bay towards Geelong way driving home from MSAC after a swim about hour ago.
Looks like the main storm activity passed to the south of Melbs.
Should get some rain over night into the morning looking at the current radar.
Cant see much white stiff in this for the hills though, very warm.
Thermometer telling me it's 24c on my balcony in docklands. Lots of lighting activity earlier out over the bay towards portsea/mornington way.
Macedon forcefield in action
Do we think it will snow before the weekend, cold enough in NSW?
Intermittent light rain in Thredbo since 3.30 am, wind gusting to 115kph up top and 5 degrees.
The howling wet wind of spring has arrived. Looks like any rain is light and confined to the mountains. It's a classic "too warm to snow" system at the moment.
A rainbow for the little season that can ...
Pouring with rain in Thredbo now.
crazy winds , pouring rain , thunder here in Falls .
Thunder rain here now.
Sleep in o'clock, then a lazy drive home.
Observe for yourself!
PS. Pic doesn't show thunder, lightning or howling winds, all of which are happening at this moment.
sounds like an epic day on the mountain
All "calm" now, just drizzly dank and soggy swampness
Torrential rain in mt beauty
Observe it was peak season on the main range with dozens out and about on a perfect weekend, with Mt Twynam looking more crowded and tracked out that Guthega.
Warm the whole weekend - T-shirt weather except at 2000m+ in the wind. One guy Steve was actually rocking boardshorts and T-shirt.
Hair dryer in full ball when we left yesterday arvo. V. windy. One poor maniac leaving the guthega carpark, even after we warned him about the incoming weather!
A little hail now in Falls
Did falls turn their cams off for a reason?
20mm in the SE subs. Works out good for me, not everything in the garden will grow like stink.
Rain on and off at Davenport, Hotham - mostly on. Foggy and windy. Looks like it might clear in an hour or two based on the radar.
Wind town at hotham. Car says 1 degree. Dont think lifts will be running anytime soon
Some consolation maybe that temps are falling at PV and Thredbo last few hours.
Need to make a decision about skiing PV next week tonight. Will the cooler temps predicted later in week hold remaining snowpack? A bit of Pounds Ck BC planned to follow.
Rain cleared at Hotham maybe 9-ish. Had a brief snow flurry. Temp dropped after the rain cleared and kept things a little firmer than yesterday. Unfortunately the rain did do a bit of damage, not catastrophic but noticeable.
Last Sunday I observed the first brown snake for the season basking in the sun amongst bark and branches near our home in dinner plain
The little spin top is over Adelaide at the mo.
Could be good for a top up, especially for BC this wk end. When do you expect it in the mtns, daytime or hopefully during the night when its colder?
Currently raining in Adelaide with some big thunder claps!
Temp has also dropped 5 degrees in the last hour and now raining very heavily.
glorious day in Jindy but the clouds are building over the range
Temp in Adelaide plunged 8 degrees in an hour and a half and almost 9mm fell in the city in the last hour. Radar (and thunder) says we're not quite done yet.
OK - make that almost 20mm in the last hour! Eased up considerably now - I think the show is over.
In Adelaide believe it or not. Heap of hail!
