It dosent make sense that its sub zero at thredders and 2.5 deg at Hotham....does it? Is the temp gauge on the blink?

According to weatherzone temps for thredbo top station, it hasn't been anywhere near subzero overnight or this morning. Hotham now -2.5 and a little bit of precip stil happening.
Baw Baw has received over 16mm of precip since temps went below zero

The sun is just about out at Wagga so i can't see much more in it for NSW. A couple more hours of light snow and then some showers on and off for the rest of the day. Little bit of fuzz on the satellite pic along the vic coast so snow could continue at Baw Baw for the day.

reports from folks heading up the mountain for work this morning that it is snowing at pender-lea hill (alpine way, past the stables) and at perisher valley.
Not sure how much is falling in the valley, the fixed cam at yabby flats doesnt show much more than a bit of mist, and the mountainwatch cam for front valley is still showing footage from when it was still dark, so it might be on the blink.

We've got that SW airflow going now.

I observe rain patches on the BoM Bairnsdale radar heading NE towards the NSW ski fields. With current temps at those resorts it should fall as snow. It also appears Mt Hotham and Falls Creek will feel it shortly.

We got 5cm or more in some spots around DP.
Started snowing 2.30 am in the morning and has been going softly since.
Had over 3cm on the bonnet, so there definitely is some freshies about.
Just not enough to write home about.

Wow where did all this come from? We missed the lot last night!

The bit I'm happy about is 13mm of rain at Baw Baw in the last 24 hours, with temps been safely negative (I think)... [IMG]

I didn't refer to your post in particular, I was just commenting on how much rain fell around Victoria last night, at a time where I thought all the moisture was exhausted out of this system. (I was very surprised, in other words!)

7mm in Melbourne CBD, 17mm in Viewbank, etc. Given last night's temps, I wouldn't be surprised if snow fell in the Stzeleckis.
