Pouring in mt gambier.
and 8 degrees
yeah, and what's with all the cloud on the vic snocams around 1pm monday? anyone there?
Was up at Hotham this morning and it was FREEZING, blowing a gale and overcast.
Down here at DP it is sunny and a bit blowy - the clouds are starting to appear.
Crikey still below zero at Thredders...
Twas a very cold night there last night. Snowguns fired up over the whole hill before four. Breadroll clouds came up yesterday afternoon, then quietly slipped back west. They were creeping back over when I left at 10:30.
From the cams Hotham, Falls and Buller are getting something. NSW yet to see the love. Temps everywhere in the mountains all below zero. -4.8 Falls, -4 at Mt Perisher.
you can see it on the sat pic- check the water vapour
What's this i havent seen any snow fall all day?
Top of Hotham definitely getting some by the look of the cams. Check the railings
Ok, might have got excited about Falls and Buller , Hotham definitely getting something.
Maybe its a sign of things to come..
I heard reports of very light snow in Cooma this morning. Not correct from other reports Apparently it was frozen fog???
I actually quite like the look of what is building slowly around the Victor Harbor area...
is that going to make it to the Alps though?
+1 reports very cold and bleak all day at Buller. No natural snowfall of any significance today that I'm aware of.
It should slide ESE and miss the alps.
I am observing that I like the time lapse on this cam:
Snowmaking through the middle of the day low on the mountain is fantastic.
Maybe not but I like the build up of precip starting to happen and I like the way winds have been picking up over the day and staying nice and cold and the barometer dropping. Just tells me there is some fertility around rather than things being flaccid.
nah it won't.. not according to LAPS if the low stays where it is..
.that main body near mount gambier will..
its actually thickening up aye..
Observations only - use the prediction thread for predictions!
This is Observations here not Predictions.
The fog around Cooma was weird, it looked like frost and ice all over the trees, and that was nearly lunchtime.
Really impressive, the conditions must be just right, apparently still around -5 up there.
Stay on Topic.
Balmy -5.5C at Falls.
Making snow at Sundance at Thredders atm
Observation: It is COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
(On the homefront: sitting here in shorts and a T shirt atm, journey south beigins soon)
I'm currently observing a lack of updating charts and forecasts from the BOM - me thinks they are having a hard time figuring out WTF is going on at the moment!
latest image from village cam at buller shows a new dusting over the road
good moisture going through adelaide....
at least its cold for the next front
i'm in the adelaide hills and has been no rain today. but has been very cold all day
I saw a handful of drops slam in to the window maybe 25 minutes ago, 17th floor in the CBD in Adelaide. Other than that, nothing all day except cold winds.
dew point -14.9°C!!!
that's triple layer lip balm weather
Feels much colder then AWS shows here in Melb. About 8C, apparent temp 2c!
Dry air too, only 68% humidity.
-6.3 at Falls
-7.1 at Hotham.
Must be painful.
Beautiful snowmaking conditions.
Sick of snowmaking and only man made runs.
Moisture coming through Adelaide looks OK but I like what I observe in the bight on the Sat Pic.
It's not looking all hopeless is it?
The models have fairly consistently shown reasonable precip for Western Vic.
Sliding Sliding SE. Wont get much from the NW tonight, tomorrow we may get a W'ly feed which will be good for potential moisture.
Snowing on Benlomond this arvo . Started late this arvo only a couple of cm when i left but snow was starting to settle to about 1200m . Should get a bit out of this over the next couple of days hopefully. !
been steady rain for the last two hours in adelaide hills. and still going now.
two things..hardly snow related, but weather obs
1) i've never seen a clearer night in sydney..was 60km away this evening looking at the city from waterfall plateau and it was crystal clear. Could see the skyline, aircraft lined up to land..was pretty neat
2) its bloody cold in wollongong..around 7 at my place..5 last night..sorta hovered around 11 all day..
looking like staying like that for 7 days, maybe more...that will be our longest cold spell for ages.
rain streaming through SA..decent totals too
Enough breeze to blow all the shitty city air away but not enough to stir up dust??
10mm in a few hours at Mt Lofty and 5c in the Adelaide hills. If only it would all track directly east and hold the moisture levels.
Definately an oragraphic effect in the Adelaide hills here's hoping we can have the same where it counts in 24 hours.
I notice another band of precip heading towards Adelaide now
Coldest June temperature in Melbourne in 24 yrs according to Grant Denyer on Sunrise...
Because Grant Denyer is sooooo reliable hehehe
WZ borked this morning, well since 0230 it looks like.
Borked or baulked?
Cold in Sydney with ice on the windscreen on the northern beaches which is very unusual. 4 deg near the water is about as cold as it gets here.
I am liking the way it is developing around Adelaide so there is still some hope for something.
stuffed, not working etc. Well for me anyway.
Cold, windy and light rain/showers in the SE subs, looks like it's raining out of nothing but does look slightly threatening.
More solid rain now, too bad all the radars i can see are down, anyone getting a current sat pic/radar?
I'm on the coast in Adelaide and it's been raining solidly for about three hours and showing no signs of abating. I'd say at least 20 mm this judging by the increasing level of my pool!
