Those would have to be some of the coldest prefrontal temps in the Alps I have seen in a while. Still about -6 at Hotham, -4 at Baw Baw.

You can see the moisture is slowly building now in VIC with Buller and probably the others in the firing line.

Temps in Melb and central VIC continue to drop or at least staying very cold

flooding in Adeialde too...if that moves across as slowly it could be game on

you can put this one in the bank IMO.

I always seem to reinjure an old trapezius tear when the season proper is about to start.

Bingo - flared up again yesterday evening getting down some boxes to take back to Buller on Thursday. You can all stop looking at charts now. [IMG] [IMG]

That "blob" over Sa is tracking our way and seems to be intensifying. Falls of over 43mm reported in places in the Adelaide Hills. Very cold air with it.

absolutely freezing in sydney today. clear skies but still only 9 degrees approaching midday. meanwhile it's nearly 5 degrees at Perisher Front Valley. can't recall such a small diff between these two locations at this time of day at this time of year. or ever really.

Its a nice sunny day without much wind so there is localised heating of the valley. All the vic resorts are clouded in so temps are lower.

Yeah I think inversion and those Perisher readings can get a bit off in the sun. Their is still frost in the shaded areas around Jindabyne

Perisher temp gauge may be on the blink, but BOM is still recording +3c. However that has dropped almost a full deg in the last hour, which is nice. Charlottes currently just below 0, and Thredbare about the same, so +3 for Perisher village is probably about right.

I might be snowmaking in Balmain tonight if this keeps up. Still not double digits on a sunny day at midday!

I observe that the Melbourne temperatures have remained virtually unchanged since midnight. Hovering between 8.6 (midnight) and 7.6 now.
Showers blowing through St Kilda, although not a huge drop of moisture at this stage.

maybe but still, the entire resort?
    http://www.perisherblue.com.au/winter/snowreport/aws.php

that's going to update so better write down
    top perisher 1.6
    bottom perisher 6.1
    bottom of ridge 5.1
    bottom of summit chair 1.6

    that's very consistent with altitude

I suggest windblown manmade on the VIC cams. Buller's been like that all morning.

Ive had close to 10mm since 9am at my place, been raining for over 4 hours straight now, and just dying down but the radar and sat pic looks good.

Majority of precip at present is still far south of the ranges, I would think Baw Baw is coping a bit at present. Lets hope tonight it moves through a bit further north of Melbourne tonight. South east suburbs are getting plenty of rain at present.
