Most likely a fair bit more then that as its so windy the gauge reading would be pretty inaccurate I would imagine. (side ways rain!)

I can smile already. We at Yinnar South have had 5mm (maybe more with the wind..). I'd be happy enough with that out of any system, but this one has just started! [IMG]

Temp dropped 4 degrees (16.5 to 12.7) with the front. When it gets below 10 and the air has a specific chill, I know it's snowing up high. Not quite there yet, the air still feels soft and moist.

I would expect the temps to spike up again before the next front passes in a few hours.

Drop in temps basically across the board now in southern regions, but still a degree or so to go to get cold enough for snow :

This will update, it's from here, there is also an equivalent one that includes NSW alpine areas which are still 'flat' ATM.

I'd suggest there will be a few cm by morning, but on top of a very watered down, soggy base. More snow to come as the day progresses though [IMG]

"Just cold enough for snow" air about 4 - 6 hours away IMO.

Really cold air a good day off.

Just off the plane from Sydney into Albury. Plenty of rain, icing on the props, turbulence and needed to skirt around to miss the worst of it. Getting out onto the tarmac, it felt way too warm for my liking, and the rain has stopped.

Rain doesn't behave like that, even in big wind. They are big flakes, very wet, very windy...

It's still borderline. It only turned to snow in the past 20 minutes or so and with the temp at 0.6 or so it won't take much for it to turn back to rain imho

If it keeps up though, if those temps stay low enough.... [IMG]

Can't refute the primary "text" evidence. I was sure that it looked like there was some flake behaviour in there with that kind of pause, up draft, move sideways, flowing kind of thing going on. If that's all rain may as well pack the ski's away...
