Radar doesn't work too well over the mountains. Probably better looking at the sat pic.

forget the radar, just check out the white blobs on the satellite pic. The bulk of the moisture will drop out near the coast but hopefully enough makes it the Thredbo and Perisher.

I observe from my apartment window at Quay West Falls Creek at 8.45pm tonight that the snow falls have backed right off since when we arrived at 5.30pm this afternoon. Snow guns around Wombats / Falls express stopped about an hour ago, however higher up on the mountain you can still hear the guns going.

I also observed it was snowing lightly from just after Bogong Village all the way to the hotel. (Down to 750metres) The fitting of chains was required for all 2wd vehicles well below entry to the Alpine Park, warning signs again at park entry. Snow on road all the way up, 4wd's required to engage and in some spots snow on road was hard packed and at least 10-15cm thick. I observe with delight My Disco 4 had no problems without chains with family on board and fully loaded and Snow Mode engaged.

Observed several fools endangering on coming traffic in Landcruisers who were all over the road going up and coming down, no chains fitted. Also observed a brand new Volvo XC60 parked with hazard lights in a ditch on side of escarpment above Bogong Village with airbags activated - no one inside vehicle.

I observe too many fool hardy drivers with no respect for conditions and other drivers. More reports and photos shortly.

Colder air pool and the moisture looks to be sticking further east than would be liked. Bombala is still cold at .6 deg and 10mm of rain since 5.00pm. Temps on the rise in Perisher and no moisture.

Still looks good on the Radar but if we get any it is'nt going to be the dry snow we have had over the last few days.

The moisture heading towards the NSW resorts seems to disappear as soon as it hits the border, either because the radar doesn't work as well over mountains or because the moisture disappears, interestingly Perisher has recorded 0.2mm while Khancoban further west, has recorded 2.2mm, potentially the Perisher gauge has frozen up, but it is usually pretty reliable, guess we will find out in the morning!

was just looking at that myself. I think it has frozen up. It's normally pretty good but it's had about 30 hours at -4 degrees C which is pretty low for that elevation.

The low is still hanging around, giving us a final fling
    before it departs.
Sending another band of moisture from the south
    towards Thredbo / Perisher,

I observe that this has been a Tas system as predicted. The real dumpage* has been there (well, maybe Baw Baw, wait to see depths).

Same at Thredbo unfortunately. You need to read through their report.

New snow across the resort today, 10cm of fresh snow covers the middle and upper mountain.

That to me says we had some new snow. In total (including yesterdays) there is 10cm mid to upper mountain. Dissapointing.

    I Know!

Reports for weather say the snow level could have topped 1 metre on the South East slopes. biggest dump in at least 16 years to mega low levels, thick and fluffy.

Doesnt look like too much rain damage looking at the cams, the trees are still bowed over with snow. Anyways a little bit of the wet stuff is good this time of year.

Wind at Thredbo blowing S now, instead of the W or WSW it was for most of last night, a sign that moisture might finally penetrate through to the mountains

Snowing at Thredbo lighly in the village now. Looking at the Radar Thredbo may get another 5-10cm on the mid to upper slopes today and maybe 5cm for Perisher

To give an indication of how far the cold has pushed north, its 12.1C here in Brisbane at 10:30am. Bout as cold as it ever gets for this time of day.

The temps in Perisher have again dropped below freezing. I think it's currently snowing down there. There's precipitation and I'm just hoping it's not r**n.

Probably a bit marginal down the bottom of Thredbo now but doesn't really matter at this stage. We are better off getting another 10cm up high and losing the whole lot below 1500m - all that stuff can be replaced with one nights snowmaking but we need big drifts to fill everything in up high. In any case temperatures down low won't be that warm and i'd guess snow should fall to village level under cover of the night.

Plenty of precipitation around Jindy this arvo ans still was when I just put the bin out. Probably 3mm in town since 1pm. I think thredbo would have done well above 1500m today
