Snow at PB was OK today and some cloud building over the main range, but nothing to get excited about. Temps have kept cool enough and we don't look to be losing any snow.
Temps in SA are above what we need but WA are starting to get the cold southerly feed. Still 48 hours until we et something to look at.
Not much going on yet that I can see.
It has warmed up a bit tonight at hotham almost 1 degree to -0.4. Looks like pressure in Melbourne is dropping falling 6hp throughout the day.
And a very tiny splattering of rain just became visable on the Melbourne radar. Hopefully there will be alot more going on in the morning.
Bit of drizzle in Thredbo village this am.
Mild this morning in the pines (1000M)-was 1 degree last at 11.00 but 3 degres this morning at 6am
Worst autumn/winter rain we have in the 5 years since moving from Sydney to the Bush.
Raining steadily in Thredbo Village now..
I am 50km south of adelaide, and the wind is still from the north, very strong and gusty, sitting on about 12 degrees at the moment. Showers intermittent. The front probably wont come through till later today, looking at the latest charts on BOM. The forecast for Adelaide this week has improved, with temps not above 13 for the first half of the week, and a couple of strong fronts to come through, with rain and hail forecast. YAY!!! My week at Hotham starting Sunday may be good yet.....
Off topic I know, but where is "the pines"
Looks like hotham and falls are in a shroud of cloud. Mist etc. Wonder if they've had any rain.
No rain yet at Buller, temp has lowered from 1.4 @ 5:43am to 0.7 current.
Best way to observe what us happening at perisher is the front valley cam that looks across the creek towards the V8 and the perisher centre. I don't no how to put an image up but will post the link. If someone knows how to put it up so that it updates that would be sweet.
IMO it looks like some of the cover has already been lost which means is F*%king R$#ning!!!!!!
0 at the top of thredbo now, with 1mm of r@in so far.
Good to see the temps this low already.
Should start snowing soon
Hotham - wouldn't say rain ....prob more like wet mist. two or three deg. + Not all bad. Very foggy today. Summit on wind hold. Slalom very busy and very thin.
Lower temps than predicted today, i would say this is sahping up nicely...may not see net gain down low til tuesday but up high NSW and Vic should be good by tomorrow, and dare i say epic by friday? Its got to rain before it snows.
woops i think that was a prediction in the obs thread
I'm observing that the cold pool on the sat picture is just off kangaroo island, less than 24 hrs away.
hey all, has been very cold and raining quite heavily in pt lincoln (very tip of eyre peninsula) all day. front is very close now as the wind has died and is starting to turn. not sure how relavant this is but hey!?
live reports are always good.
Barometer at Thredbo is busted, but it is not warming up which is good. Still SFA ra^n 1.2mm which is good.
My mate is up at perisher and he said it has been snowing.
Feels and looks like rain in Adel is not far away.
The wind is picking up in front of the front.

Yep that just hit here Actually heard it over the snowboarding movie im watching
The temperatures in hotham seem to be hhovering a bit close to 0 for my liking.. Hanging out for it to drop a few degrees, at least then they can churn out some man made stuff
its 8pm here in perth now - i am sitting here at the computer with my ski jacket on its so cold !!
Adel cold and wet
Temp 8.5c and dropping
Rain 6.4mm in the last hour.
right on V. hotham just dipped back above 0 to +0.2
fingers crossed it goes back negative real soon.
looks like a bit of moisture for hotham/falls and the NSW resorts, unfortunately i cant see it getting below 0C. Buller/Baw Baw will miss out on it.
Yeah, I would expect to see this too, but the temps at locations 'ahead' of this weather don't seem to indicate this. Certainly it looks to be about a good degree cooler than GFS, or Vic BoM would have us believe was going to happen. NSW BoM's current Alpine forecast seems to be about on the money though for the observations around the traps. Perhaps we will see some snow tonight in NSW, with a chance of some for higher ground at Hotham & Falls.
gee the pro's are coming out of the woodwork now arent they? good to see u again djon.
yeah sometimes it happens, usually it does, this rise isnt as much as i was expecting though. To me the temps are pretty much where i was expecting them to be.
looking at wagga wagga temp graph it seems to have dropped with the moisture band that has just come over it which backs up the above claims and is a good sign for the resorts. Good moisture there already something that wasn't really predicted yet. Lucky its hitting at night!!!!!!!
-.3 and .2mm of precip at hotham. be interesting to see what the morning brings.
Just dropped 0.9 on hotham from 0.6 to -0.3. I am feeling positive about some snow now
-1.3 and 1mm of precip at hotham. go you good thing.
'pro' eh, I like that, now if only it were true.
Well Hotham has dropped off in the last hour to be -0.5, and with 0.4mm precipitation. This was after exactly the sort of temperature rise we were just talking about!! :
(graph from here)
Nice one Djon and ^ that report, combined with a very good looking radar image, is very good news. I think this set of fronts is going to give us more than the real pros (BOM) have forecast!
interesting to note due to bullers isolation it has not suffered the same temperature dropping fortunes as the peaks further in. 1.1C is no good at the moment.
Yep Buller a bit too warm, again rain was/is expected until Monday afternoon.
