Sleet at best on the Merritts cam atm.
Wintery mix, cough, cough.
Decide to take a before photo.
Bit slushy smiggins today so went to Brumby T-bar at Blue cow for better colder stuff and light r**n, snow and ice
Snowing proper at Perisher. Time to go home.
*wintry* mix, cough cough cough
Cold air pushing through Windy Hill (Essendon), squally coldies smashing window
Some heavy bands rolling through Adelaide. Really hoping there is actually a bit more moisture than yr.no is now predicting to hit the mountains overnight (and hoping the midweek clipper comes off ahead of our arrival on the 21st).
I observe that it’s been r**ning all day in Thredbo, and is currently bucketing down with no sign of white in the snowzilla falls. Must be stripping what little existed...
Yep seems temperature drop and moisture has reached Melbourne. Hopefully will be at the alps soon.
Poor little Baw Baw needs some love from above!
cold air coming....
Unfortunately that was always going to happen.
Anything above 1750 will be gaining
Wet snow and accumulating slop on the roads
Observed rain/slush for most of the day at hotham.
Snowfall made some short appearances at the top, but unlikely to have been snow at the bottom. Photo of wind blown accumulation by lunchtime attached.
After that, headed back down to base.
Heavy rain all day down at harrietville. Still dripping atm. Temps 8 degrees.
Yes, levels were expected to marginal for lower down but this time yesterday I don’t think anyone expected it to be as wet as it was today at, say, Perisher.
POW mentioned the models were 1-2C under what eventuated. Made all the difference
Don’t know about that as we were going off piste to 3/4 way down World Cup at 3pm, had a super fun if a little wet day, gonna be on tomorrow.
I’m greatly saddened by this after all the expectations and your trip over. I hope it changes soon
Welcome to 2019 .... +0.1 degree of despair. Passing showers in Southsea
That +1 degree of difference from the "norm" is starting to have a big impact more and more often. This was a classic deep south injection and by the time it got to the Land of Oz it became that little bit warmer. The lack of moisture is also a continuing feature. Just look how dry the roads have been in the morning on blue metal and on the dirt.
Fizzer so far. Raining in Jindy. Plus 7. Still wet in PV. Not negative. Temps. But maybe my attitude ! Really. Is it that hard to wish for proper cold ?
I observe that this so called “polar express” is an epic fail
Patience my friends.
Looks like snow on South Perisher cam and reports of wet snow in Smiggins since 3:30pm. Not perfect but by no means a fizzer
Wet crud at Merritt’s Live Cam....
Well for thredbo
The cold air was 10pm eta
I still have confidence that this will turn out okay over next few days and week. But a classic fail on the first front. Happened last year ahead of it going crazy as well.
I thought latest updates show the cold air coming a bit later around 12 with some juice left.
Snowing nicely at BB
Still blardy warm at Island Bend @ 2.9 degrees and pissing down with clear stuff.
Sitting in Perisher Carpark 1 degree. The heaviest of wet clumpy snow falling. Sticking to cars but partially melting on the road.
Great season starter / base builder
Blue Cow Cam
For all u nsw folk, calm ur farm, no need to panic. From little wet things, big white things grow. We are all going to wake up tomorrow to fluffy white stuff
Snowing at Buller quite nicely and heavily at times from what I can hear from inside.
The 'get out of jail free card' for any great forecaster...
Pity we’re already a month into the season.
Was at blue cow today (not skiing just sight seeing). Was raining there and melty at around 2 pm when we left.
As of early this morning Thredbo was on par with pre Thursday snow conditions. Would imagine it's worse now. Definite gains above 1700m.
Yesterday was awesome. Today was a washout.
Interesting comparison from the BC cam
Definitely more accumulation on the rocks next to the chair tower in centre of picture.
Not today it didn't. I have high hopes for tomorrow.
Felt like snow weather finally when leaving work - Malvern
Gee, watching from up here in QLD the latest Perisher obs doesnt inspire me much. Borderline freezing temps coming down so slowly but the precip got going.
Anyone up there got a conditions update?
I know in the past it can snow at those temps as long as the higher elevations have the negs.
PV FV cam looks ordinay with plenty on the ground though.
Still raining in Jindy. Plenty of moisture. Of the wrong kind. although. 2mos forecast for PV may change my negative mind.
After enjoying the bumper 2018 Ozstriyan ski season nothing will match it this season.....
Where’s the cold air . Speckled cloud coming up from the south but still warm in nsw
5.5c up here atm in the strezleckis. The satellite pic looks really good coming up at vic from the sw! Full of very cold goodness for later tonight and tomorrow
