Couldn't tell if it was wind blown or real snow..
However we should all pause and look now.
I observe that these prolific forecasts always contain a decent amount of fizz. People want it to happen so much it blinds the objectivity.
Constant rain at Falls the last 24 hours, generally heavy, with strong winds and fog. No sign of snow at any time I’ve seen, and still plus 2 and raining. Snow on village streets running like rivers. Somewhat deflating.
Yes. Thanks for the reminder . I will check the uppers next time
Better cold air about to hit buller, radar seems to indicate a good amount of moisture still behind it. Seems to be building out west of melb according to radar.
Looks like sheets of something.
Just need to wait for the cold to arrive.
-0.2 and dropping at Falls. -1.1 at Hotham and Buller.
It’s on now
Radar Obs look loaded , plenty to come imo
Is that 5cm's worth perhaps Ozgirl? looks heavy and wet?
Yep it’s getting quiet cold out western vic with a lot of places down around 4-5c
Ben Nevis which is about 850m asl
Is at 0.8c
And mount William is -1c
And the coldest air is only just about to hit the sw coast now imo
Now snowing steadily at Falls
Look that would require effort, ie going outside...
It’s accumulating, that’s all that matters!
Sorry to be a wet blanket (no pun intended) but this system isn’t going to deliver anywhere near what the models predicted. Today was a washout at Perisher, including at higher elevations. Even if we get some snow tonight I can’t see a significant gain, overall. And snow down to 700m as was predicted a few days ago just isn’t going to happen. It’s raining hard at 1100m here at Lake Crackenback as I type. On today’s observations, there is a loss over four weeks ago. Sigh. The vagaries of the Australian snow season .... (ps happy to be proven wrong)
maybe another 20-30 mm of rain yet at PV. that next hit currently over Yarrawonga might not arrive before the colder air does over nsw
with TTS temp gauge cooked on zero for the past 6 hours its hard to know what's going on up top - Perisher page shows -0.2 for up top - which is probably accurate at night. So lots of glug is good up there in them rocks.
meanwhile, GFS shows tmw daytime looking good - cold and moisture. all day freshies maybe?
I’d hang in there if I were u lp. Coldest air will be around that southern nsw area by the morning and I still think u could still see some very good snowfall down to that 700m level imo
Today was never snowing to low level in nsw
The Merritts cam looks very wet (to be fair that's lower) but the top station precip gauge is ticking over, which it never does when snowing, so I suspect it's still rain all the way up.
Here til Monday; we’re having fun regardless!
Pretty sure the main event is tonight...
The colder air passed Melbourne this evening and Buller is now colder than Hotham with both snowing hard .. plenty of colder air and moisture is to the SW
May not have reached Perisher yet but what is see now looks positive IMO
glug will melt in that rain guage - it's ticking over much slower than PV BOM is.
Snowing proper for the past 3/4 hour village at Hotham. Temp is below and dropping, should be lots of goodness from here on. Radar is juicy, tomorrow should be fun.
9 degrees C. Celsius and raining here in NE Melbourne, at 66.1 M. ASL.
Camped up at Tawonga gap, persistent rain, wind and she gettin cool Might be luck enough to wake up with snow on us
Fair chance I’d say
9.30pm. Wet crud still on Merritt’s Live Cam
Definitely snowing at Perisher! Check out the South Perisher Cam and the Blue cow live cam.
A little somethin somethin on FV
Wet crud on Mt Buller Cam still!
And a bit more at Sth P
It is clearly snowing up there even with the positive temperatures. You can see the snow accumulating on the railing
Appears to be quite substantial snow falling on bc live cam.
Even the sludge starting to stick to the cam lense on cruiser as opposed to sliding away.
That appears to be very dubious snow on the main Vicco gauge?
Pencil snow?Team Bears never seen snow flakes quite like those !
the goods are a coming.
where is this Ret-ro?
Temp dropping, here comes the cold
Solidly snowing drier stuff in Davenport. A view you were familiar to at one point!
This clump of speckled gold is yet to come.
Temps dropping to neg at the high perch over Tumba ,wind persistently strong from WNW ,solid rain for the last half hour. Conditions are just about right.
Its a live feed of Perisher ... Where else..lol
Just walked out for a moment. 5-10cm at Buller at the looks of things.
Wow keep watching.. good snow tonight
Sorry for asking, perspective isn't familiar.
Na mate dont worry about Ret-ro , QLDer so a bit salty at the moment and has that strange northern sense of humor as well. Despite all that though not a half bad rooster is Ret-ro
