Sorry. I deleted my last obs. 532 thickness still in VIC 10 pm.

ACC r interface doesn't put the the vic / nsw border on the interface when you click.. NSW
wish they would put some latitude and longitude lines in. It would make pin pointing the ski fields much easier.

Its just starting to perform Lady P ,from my high perch on the western side of the hills I reckon conditions are just about right and will continue that way for a fair while. We shall be in profit by the end of the weekend.

Kelpie you old dog.. Thats one for the books , we had to toss you a bone made of snow the other night!.. Good to see though, keeps us a bit interested. Back on 2/8 for a week , should be great by then , will you be around the usual spots.ie those green runs? Still snowing wet at Mt P.. Its going below zero though..

Funny bloke eh ! I am injured atm but first day back up the hill will be 3/8 and for about 10 days after that. Been dying to get my new sliders into action but dog took my knee out a few weeks ago so have had to delay which I might have done anyway considering recent conditions. I will look for you in your usual haunt Harry & Hermans carpet and maybe I will entice you to go a bit higher up the hill. :p:p:p:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

Dew point is declining as this cold pool moves in.
Mount baw baw dew point minus 3.9deg c currently. Needs some cold temps' for snow precip' point
However this is happening. Dew point currently equalling surface temp'
Is this the dry powdery recipe?

Made it to Thredbo. I observed

Heavy rain from Cooma airport. Surprisingly heavy for the rain shadow, and it didn't let up. A good drip for the farmers.

A hint of slush on the windscreen over Penderlea hill. Then back to rain. Falling solid stuff from about Ngarigo. Road just started to go white past the last chain bay and fully covered in Thredbo village. 1-2cm of wet snow, cars in the carpark were just about covered. Grip was fine for 2wd, we just avoided the need for chains I reckon. Still a bit warm.

Road will be closed in a hour or two probably...

    Storm precipitation totals to date

    Perisher AWS
    11/7 - 25.2mm
    12/7 - 39.2mm
    13/7 - 56.8mm (3:30am and counting)
The precipitation was in line with the predictions
Once the weather clears, we should see the top of the mountains filled in nicely.
Unfortunately a few degrees in temp, meant this event wasn’t as low predicted (although not over yet)

Thredbo village temp is -5 deg and dropping @ 4:30am, hoping there’s plenty of moisture about still because at these temps it should be good stuff. Can’t wait to see the on the ground obs come daylight..

A few cents at Island Bend. Very crunchy underfoot at minus 3.0. Not quite the white, dry powder everyone hopes for, but prolly better up higher. Windscreen wipers frozen to windscreen.

    [IMG]Good morning Everyone!!!!!!

My thermometer is saying -5.6 here at smiggins and it isn’t tooo windy. Not much going out on the hill in terms of grooming action but there’s lots of snowplows on the roads.
As said above, take it easy on the roads.

Oh and by the way, I think we’ve had 30-40cm of light fluffy snow

It’s the real deal at PV this morning.....calling 25 to 30 cms of good quality snowy top up! Likely more up top. The snow makers are bashing snow out and their view of fresh snowfall across the mountain is just that. Won’t know for sure till we get out there at higher altitudes.

    1. The Kosi road was icy from the park entry. Snow on side of the road replenished post yesterday’s moisture.

A car stopped in the very centre of the road before Ski Rider on a bend. Decided to fit chains there and then. Large angry road clearing machine not far behind me so good luck!

Another car stopped right on the narrow bridge at Sponners. Will be challenges on the road.

    2. Lightly snowing from around SkiRider and same here in the village at present.

    3. I realise this is a drift just outside Jax but......

    4. Lots of activity getting things ready for action..

    5. Does not feel as windy as yesterday and it’s a lot colder.

Folks will get some good turns today! Enjoy......
