From your article I vote the pic of the event.
A poor woman was killed up here by a tree coming down on her car in big winds on Thursday night in Katoomba
Winds gusting to 100 kph atm Mt Victoria
0.9 C, windchill - 12 at the back door.
Driver in a bad way also
Yes her son
It's snowing, blowing and dumping at Buller.
5cm heading towards 10cm on the upper mountain over the day, and obviously more coming tonight.
With Koflers open, and hopefully a sneaky Summit opening, tomorrow might be better than yesterday.
You can see the snow falling reasonably hard in the light off the new Kooroora.
Large , now that's an awesome word !!
Looking up at Namadgi before sunset the clouds gave the distinct impression of snow falling up that way, as did the wind in Canberra.
This is one wild front moving through in the south vic strezleckis!
Haven’t seen wind and rain like this for a while!!
Be wild when this hits the mountains tonight that’s for sure!
Temps are marginal at Baw Baw hopefully this is snow !! Radar image is impressive
Ok well my final report for the day, Hotham was wild! There was good untracked sections that were knee deep if you knew where to go. The lifts closed after lunch and we did a few more and kept hiking back up. There was some fair dinkum powder out there around 4pm! Tomorrows first tracks will be nuts.
It should be snow bbb the precip is heavy and at the warmest point it was -0.4c and now it falling again up there so they should get a big fall tonight imo
Not looking good if it coming this way, as its already on the 'extreme' level at Island Bend
Temps have gone positive for the first time all day here, now 0.3 degrees so dry micro-pellets of snow are starting to stick and turn wet.
Anyone got obs in Thredbo?
Syd cold but clear today- waking up to a “feels like” 0.3 was a bit of a surprise.
That is a sight you dont see very often.
Sore legs galore after that effort.
When the bottom steps disappear,,,it’s fizzing..
So much for the uphill policy
In lieu of a reply, watch this.
Snowing lightly Thredbo village tonight.
jeez, I had to hose myself down and check the live cam. Those steps are filling in real quick. We are talking Berocca kind of fizz now
Someone with the right gear could replace the stocks & skis/boards with swords & shields would make an epic pic. 'Blue Cow horde storming Terminal Castle.'
Oops, sorry off topic.
The ants were marching
One by one
Much heavier now and temps dropping - it's gotta be snow!!!
Lances ablaze at Thredbo (-3.8C@ TS) with precip accumulating and 74km/h winds, 93km/h gusts.
Nice night for it.
No wet at this stage, temps still good.
Well below zero
Its actually happening more than it should be!! What ever happened to Brumby. You can ski from the top of Summit via side saddle to Brumby ,, There is another way out but that doesn't use the train.. lol
Just wondering if there are pps ever get left behind & ski patrol needs to get them?
Thredbo snowing light to moderately in the village since early arvo. Accum about 2cm as at 8:30pm. Would be a stack more up high and if the current radar blob over Vic tracks this far north, we could have a surprisingly heavy dump overnight
I'm a bit surprised at the level of likes this post has received! Particularly since there is no snow in it!
Buller temps hanging in there.
Perisher looks nuke
To be fair, and I was there, SkiPatrol were running SkiDoos up for those struggling. But really with a little resort knowledge, if you skied high around Side Saddle its not really much of a walk.
For those of you who missed first tracks..... BAD LUCK..... Sunny little if no wind VERY COLD, probably some of the best skiing in a long while. But it didn't last, by 8.30/45 the cloud had rolled in and the wind with it. Certainly made it easy to head inside for a coffee.
Taken not long before it got dark in Thredbo.
I’ll get a pic in the morning and see how the accumulation goes overnight in the village.
Windy AS in Thredders today.
Brumby was kinda busy Quicker to walk
Even the dogs love it:
Its been sleeting/sprinkling/raining at sawpit for about the last hour. Winds have backed right off. The odd gust, but you can hear its further up the mountain.
Will be another lovely drive up in the morning
15mm in the Baw Baw AWS since 1pm and still ticking over.
Temps just went + in Thredbo village snow has turned to raìn.
Still showing straw at south perisher
Radar is Buller express.
Radar looks insane, temps are dropping, Buller VS steps are goorn and it has been hosing down in Hawthorn East for the past 15=20 mins. Car is packed - Black Crows are ready for action
Noticing BOM Perisher obs rising temps with rising precip, but the cavalry not far away.
Some epic pics coming tomorrow from those lucky to be up there.
