Is the sun out down low heating things up. It may be getting cooler but its dry as now.
Wow, after 2 weeks skiing Mt P and Blue Cow, thats a bit of a shock
Did you have to ski today or are you there for the school comp
Smiggs is normal for this time of year. Its useful to convince VAIL to put snow making in. It will be really handy for beginners to have a longer season there. It did get covered by about 4 inches last w/e which has melted off. This will all change soon. Hopefully.
Wet snow falling up at Cloud 9 at Falls
Beautiful and sunny in Melb
Flakes on the High Noon and Friday Flat cams
Mrs Steeps and 3 x budding Steeps report lots of fun even if it is less than ideal weather .Here is the view from her Hot Chocolate. Ridge was "easy as" this am - ITO (in their opinion)
Snow making when the Smiggins Hotel is sold to Vail...until then...?
Water is the issue. A DA was put in to build a dam but knocked back by NP. I believe they want to put it back in the table.
Back to OBS. It did start to snow lightly at mid P but sun is now poking though. We need Wednesday.
Snow flurries at the top of Merrits (and bottom of Merrits) Thredbo
Yeah to both. Sitting in the carpark now. 4 degrees. But light sago occasionally.
Just sayin, has anyone EVER observed a BoM forecast of snow above 1900m actually deliver snow (not rain) on the top bit of Thredbo or Perisher or Charlotte Pass which sit above 1900m? Nah, me either
Hasn't it been falling as snow above 1900m all day? Could see flakes on High Noon cam.
Looks like snow at Perisher
I think we’re now in the phase of this semi-system where it was progged to fall above 1500m. Was talking more overnight when it rained and Thredbo too station never got below about 1.8 yet 1900m possibility was forecast at that time
Seems about right. Snow fall to 1900m doesn't mean freeze at 1900m - and doesn't mean accumulation above 1900m. Best to just assume there'll be bugger all accumulation from anything marginal like todays glance.
Steep-ettes report the first day of school holidays was fun - lots of smiles, no complaints and Ridge, MT P and Blue Cow Summit the ski lifts for today. You can see in this photo how much snow there is on the CP road in the background - ie not much - different story when I get there Thurs. Stayed dry, pretty much from 1130 am they said. AND NOW WE ALL WAIT
All will be forgotten this time next week...
I observe my phone,
9 days of glorious white flakes. How could this possibly be incorrect
It doesn't tell you that some of the days are 40-50% chance of snow.
There is a tad snow shower on yr.no for tomorrow arvo at Buller. That'll be good to just see a flurry, after sleet today.
Buller was foggy and sleety early.
Sun and sky peaked out in arvo.
Snow was soft, needs snow desperately.
All major resorts went -ve temps last night. The first time for a few nights. Some much needed snowmaking I'm sure.
Yes times are tough!
Team Bears are sure marketing can put a spin on this though.....drive in drive out ...no need to worry about Nokian Tyres!Slopes in good condition for Mt Biking ♀️!
Thredbo reporting on social that they were able to get the guns going on "upper terrain". A happy boost before the next system moves in.
Snowing lightly at Buller.
Barely accumulating, but definitely snow.
Staff are inspecting the pitch seeing if a roller is required....!
Where are all the kids?
Marketing just needs to tell people they’ve set it up to ski like the pros!! Who needs snow:
Yes that’s good...Team Bears expect Baw Baw Bell is studying this footage and noting the anticipation and beautiful weight changes that are on display....
Oh ...of course some weather ....mild in Caroline Sorings ..bit of breeze from Nth...mild ...a few clouds of non threatening genetics.
Just started snowing at base of MtP
And so it begins, snowing lightly at high noon
Prefrontal seems to be quite fluffy at hotham
Its not pre-frontal. Its the dregs of yesterday weak system. Tomorrow nights action is left side of the bight.
Well then, some pretty nice dregs showers to be seen on the High Noon cam.
definite snow falling on the Basin, Cruiser, High Noon and Friday Flat cams (Thredbo)!
Its not just falling up high!
Nice flakes falling in the village, nothing spectacular but sure does beat what we had yesterday!
Light snow falling at Buller.
To the bottom of Wombat 1440m or so
Flurries here at Island Bend on the way to Guthega. Dropped 3 degrees in last 25min, so looking good up a bit higher. Reports of big flakes and zero temps at Ridge in Blue Cow.
Fatter flakes now, getting quite solid and consistent at the village level.
Nice little band of moisture coming through on the radar, should see some good flakes.
Baw Baw getting on the socials.
Temperatures were pretty borderline up at Buller and now seem to be trending the wrong way unfortunately. Had rain, graupel and snow over the course of the morning whilst we were up there. Hoping it keeps snowing though!
Nice flakes @Buller
I observe rime / graupel type snow showers at Hotham, from bottom of Village up to the top.
Earlier today near the Summit and down Slalom Gully was getting snow showers, but it was sunny over at Davenport.
And I also observed mucho carnage in Slalom Gully today- ski patrol has been working non-stop.
Yeah I guess it has been on and off since then, moderate at times. Sitting right on 0 in the carpark (perisher) right now
The Cedarwood table has changed to the correct colour....
Loving this image:
A little on the deck at Perisher
