We are very sheltered at ground level from NW winds here in Mitcham, but can currently hear it howling through the talls trees 100m away. It felt like snow coming at lunchtime. That biting NW wind even though u standing in the sun. Love it!

Bugger, 40-60cm might stop you getting to Perisher; no snow clearing out your way! Still, a few shots of freshies down some of your paddocks will ensure redemption! Here at Island Bend there are only a few hundred metres to snow ploughed roads, so I could send you photos from Eyre and such if you cant make it!

I would prefer if the image showed much whiter. cloud indicating greater convection.
It seems a bit surface cloudy to me. But then again it might be just. a zoomed out image.
It doesn't look very powerful in my 'books' but this is the weaker first front arriving overnight
Are we getting the outer bands of that low tonight, over the alps?

Winds have arrived but no precipitation of any kind. Bullets now coming down from Guthega way, so Jindy caravan park foreshore about to be carnage for any brave souls in tents and camper trailers. Temps remain quite steady at 1.9 degrees, down a touch but still warm for Island Bend at 1450m asl.

That is a thing of mystery and wonder...

How does that work? Winds going towards at a million miles an hour, then away, then towards.. all in similar quadrants..

I think that's the leftover from this morning, not new snow.

I checked the Chapel Cam which showed no trace of the white stuff.

I believe that the issue there is that the time stamp is flakey, but the cam is still updating, was posted about on the village cam kickstarter thread. Apira does look like it has a bit of snow but it is left over from the light dusting last night.

Temps have dropped by about a degree and a half in the last hour or so down in Sawmill. Doesn't appear to be translating to a much needed temperature drop up on the mountain yet though.

I observe that the wind was not only full on, it was inconsiderate. Punters just trying to watch State Of Origin but wind gusts would move sat dish pretty much every time a try was scored so no reception!!! Chilly fix each time. 2 tries scored on last gust as pegs were being pulled from the ground. 7 anchor points and the bloody thing still moves at the most inconvenient times. All would be forgiven if we just got some snow.

It's bloody tropical! How could it possibly snow when the temp in Narby is 8 deg? And on LM is 1.9? Is this someone's idea of a cruel joke? You need more than a gale and a couple of drops of moisture to get a good snow fall.
