I observe I’ll be going via Omeo Friday night. Don’t fancy that the Harrietville side handling this wind and snow very well.

I observe that the traffic control is likely to be handling the snow very well, and will start convoys “just because “.

First lifts on Wombat, not enough to cover the iced bumps, but very nice to the sides and sidewinders.
Lift broke down for a little bit, got to see the lift going 1.5x it's normal speed.
Cold, a bit windy and a westerly mix ATM.

Buller (lbs) was fun for the first few runs, only after the race hut. As JB said, down the sides was the pick which not many seemed to realise, so had a couple of fun runs. Snow was quite heavy and seemed waterlogged up top.
Got stuck at the top of wombat for 15m, that was unpleasant. Right now, ice pellets falling. Retired to lodge to dry off

Also the track to LBS off first lifts was a literal skating rink.

I concur with all of this. LBS was very two speed! At least we can observe that the temperature was cold enough to be pumping the snow guns all over the shop, even if that made skiing a little unpleasant.

Back for a break. Still snowing/sleeting.
There saying 15cms up top, maybe 5/10cms lower down. Kinda cold up top, breezy, kinda warm and wet feeling down low. Enough snow to cover everything and make it look pretty. People skiing everywhere they can get to with current lifts open. Good first thing. Kinda chunky now.

It's -3.8C up top and still snowing on Friday Flat, so no chance that you're looking at anything wet there

Until 10am, then it stopped, the lift stopped (but good on lift maintainance for a very quick fix), we went slow and then we went fast.

And with the snowguns turning off came the sleet that is currently falling. Koflers needs another 30cm. But at least the mountain looks far more lovely, with snow even down the bottom.

wow. I have never seen a Doppler pattern like that. I do know that those 'n' or' u' shapes on the doppler is sometimes a signature of tornadic activity.

It has snowed continuously all morning here at Island Bend near Blue Cow but at 0.5 degrees, there is little accumulation on the ground.

Skied for 1 hour at PV. Done by 9:30. Snow was in good shape in the drifts. Wind impacted elsewhere. Crowds were huge.

Back to Moonbah where anecdotally the overnight wind was as strong as I can recall. A quick look around part of the property to observe some damage-all individual trees. Plenty more not posted. Worst thing is the next cold front is likely to be as strong.

Its 11.5 deg in Bendigo at 1.30pm.Today.
Past correlations have shown me that daytime temps ' of 11deg in west Vic equate to snow on the alps,if the moisture is available
Still the best to come tonight and into saturday early morning.

ACC g says 544thickness line over the alps currently , 1pm.
The 532 thickness line taps the Sw vic mainland about 4pm
approaching buller about 10pm and covers melbourne and bendigo
    snowflakes for Ballarat perhpaps
4am 532 covering all of VIC and the alps and up to the blue mountains and west of the NSW divide and Tasmania
This 532 patch continuing until about midday when the cold pool starts to contract.
An upgrade in ACC g re the length of time the 532thickness is over the alps.
    Is going to be good

Just checked out accessr afternoon update and it shows bitterly cold air pushing up towards vic coast by 10am Tommoz. Looks to be from what I can see a little spot of 524 thickness tucked in behind the 528 line. IMO
Going to be a fun night Friday night I’d reckon

Bloody winter hurricane today! Gusted 63 knots earlier, so that's my strongest gust of the year thus far.

Snowing intermittedly (flurries) earlier this morning through to high noon, with much heavier snow to arrive by Saturday. The South'Wester squalls might be even more turbulent, too!

Remember: wait 'til Saturday or thereafter for pictures.

Still regular snow showers coming down at Hotham. Snow is powdery but clumps easily which was a pain on the cross country trails. Strong westerly is keeping on going.

It's Buller's natural mechanism to regulate sight seeing day trippers and tobogganers.
During such events overnight visitors can stay warm inside their lodgings and take solace in the knowledge that people who happen to have gone to Buller for such day trip purposes who cause great congestion may after being blasted with hail think twice before going to Buller again, and next time might choose Lake Mountain instead.

Hmm... it’s snowing here in the Village. 5cm in the past three hours I just checked. About 7-10cm since I checked this morning. I’d say 15-25cm system total so far for Buller.

Yes it’s wet snow, and graupel like. But it’s snow, and it’s accumulating.
It’s not great precipitation to be skiing in (which is why I basically went out for the first tracks, and came in). But it certainly adds to the total.

Morning’s bootprints completely filled in, some from the past few hours filling in too.
Snow accumulation in front of the fire box has about 28-30cm of depth (a drift)

    FWIW it’s puking down here.
