Looks like Hotham is getting the best out of this system, could be a good result by the end of the week.

x10 ...and take a box of Nurofen .

Chill mate. Nobody knows what will happen over the next 2 weeks. The "experts" have shown that they cannot predict anything accurately from 2 weeks out so who knows what will happen up until the end of July.

Could probably check for yourself?

Buller looks like it is accumulating in previously snowed areas, but in more heated areas (roofs, roads etc) it doesnt look like it can stick at the moment. More cold air on the way, should be good tonight.

Very Interesting. It seems that the fault lies with the wind always blowing from the north recently. Let's hope for an other mini dump tonight , radar looks nice atm.

It's not actually a fault.... it's what happens when there are Highs over the eastern part of Australia (rotating anticlockwise) and Lows pushing north up into the Great Australian Bight and over SA, (rotating clockwise). This means the direction of the air will be from the north/northwest from central Australia.

Yes I noticed that pattern and I was wondering if that is unusual for this time of the year.
I don't think that we can blame this on climate change, IMO.

if yuo look at the temp anomalies for June you'll find it's pretty neutral...except for NSW /northern Vic alpine where the min anomaly was + 1- 2.

Looking pretty damp in Thredbo village at the moment - Friday Flat is looking mighty moist too.

Up high the cams look good, especially PB, with some nice frosting up on the Village 8, F valley, and Guthega cams. Giddiup for up high!

Some more moisture coming through on the yarrawonga radar too, so hopefully we'll some good accumulations.

Sorry I don't know Hotham at all but isn't the village at the top, so that 'snow right down to the village' is not that far down. What elevation is the village? and does snow down to the village mean snow down to the bottom of the good runs?

I meant the village lift, which is about 1500m at the bottom, so its the bottom of the runs that are open at the moment (only blue ribbon runs are lower)

When snowobsessedgirl said snowing to the bottom of village, I would say she meant village chair which is probably around the 1400m mark.

Looks like this was already corrected!!

Yeah you have to be quick at the moment, Sandy and I posted at exactly the same time! I just checked google maps and its officially 1510m at the bottom of the village lift, so its snowing down to at least that level at the moment.

Just back in the lodge at Hotham and although it was quite wet snow at times today, there seems to be about another 5-10cm since dawn.
Even the best micro fibre jackets were looking wet out there.
The cover is holding up OK and looks like it will snow all night.

Report from Falls today: Snow and sleet pretty much all day. It probably tended to sleet / sago in the middle of the day, but by 4pm it's turned into snow. The snow is very wet, but at least it's white stuff.

That wasn't the reason.

In the future send any moderating queries directly to me. This thread needs to be kept as clean as possible.

Carry on.

Nice heavy band of rained just passed through Wagga. Satellite picture and radar showing a few more of those to come tonight. I think most resorts will get 10cm tonight.

20cms today at hotham, possibility of up to 20cms tonight = 40cms in 2 days, id say a good outcome.

There is some quality moisture on the way now, and temps are good.

From the radar the showers are starting to come from the Southwest. It definitely is starting to get colder. -1.4 at Buller and Baw Baw, -1.8 at Falls.

Snowed pretty much all day in Perisher- windy and sago mainly but not too bad, 6cm accumulation on the deck since 4pm, stopped now and wind droped but observe on the radar another rainband due shortly.
