Add to the Adelaide story is that not only is it bucketing down here the temp has only dropped since midnight. Just 10 here today which should mean at least another solid day of more than wet enough and more than cold enough stuff heading east.

Just clicked over 9 hours straight rain in the SE subs of Melbourne. All of that cold enough for snow, even if it's not accumulating that much on the cams at the moment, although in the past hour Bullers trees are looking a little whiter indicating it's getting colder.

Surely with the weather now and for the next week they will be able to load the bottom of Wombat, just like they did last season. It will be gold to have the snowmaking all set up there for the whole season.

Yep - faster chair rides for the whole season. Was good last year - midload blows - shorter distance but longer ride.

Still looks a little wet down low, there appears to be a little run-off on the Burnt Hut cam.

Yeah but that ground wasnt frozen before it began to snow so i'm not too surprised, especially seeing it's marginal down at that height (I guess 1500m?). It also doesnt help that it's probably right on the limit of snow/rain at the moment, give it a couple of hours and that will change.

Just did a few runs at Perisher, mostly man made, front valley only. Windy and cloudy but no precip yet.

If that cloud was producing snow in NSW it would be raining in Vicco. Just saying.
Low lattitude NW sliders are uncommon. However welcome.
I will contend that speckle isn't really what to watch. That will shoot off towards Alice springs. You wanna see the weather near Adelaide at moment. That trough contains some cold air aloft. Its unstable. Thats where the low will form out of. That core.
Speckle can sometimes be too dry.

Perhaps a little. The low was expected to develop about now in that region, so not unexpected.

Lets hope it stalls there for a few hours to build up some beans and then heads East in the early hours of tomorrow morning for a direct hit on Thredbo.

Wet snow dumping at falls village and has been for a couple of hours

Road up was essentially clear at 5pm but I think 10cm over the back at same time, so more now - prob 15cm but I haven't been there...

Village roads still recovering from an afternoon rise in temp plus o'snow but improving by the minute

Check the radar now there is some strange activity going down. That must be viewed.

    http://ski.com.au/weather/radar/index.html

I wish I could post an image on here. There are four rings just about to hit the Snowies. Tripping out.

Just went outside to put the bins out and the rain feels 'wetter' if that makes sense, basically it feels like the pressure has dropped since about 5pm. Great day so far and the best is yet to come.

It looks like either the radar tripping out, or the radar trying to make sense of something wicked which will land around hotham or falls in the next few hours

I'm for the former but hoping for the latter

Falls still heavy wet snow at village level

Finally it has started in NSW. Not too concerned about temps as they will drop overnight but would like to see some precipitation. The low looks to have stalled somewhat which could be a good thing once it starts snowing in the mountains. Will be good to look at the cams in the morning.
