Wind started picking up around 9am in Sydney but it's now gusting really strong (gusts to 60km/h at north head). It's overcast and pretty horrible looking outside.

Just had about an hour of strong wind gusts and temp drops here in Sydney so I'd say that cold front has just hit us

Another, smaller but with heavier showers rainband heading in Buller's direction, with another to follow behind it. The low rotation is spinning off to the East a little too much for the NSW resorts IMO.

Comparison with yesterday shows no dirt spot, snow further up the snowfence and snowgun stand.

Ok - first post for season 12 as I must be getting excited with this system. Below are the BOM charts for todays system, compared to what I have termed (IMO), "season changing systems !"

The 2010 system was personally welcomed at Falls Creek. The 2011 System was the big early one for 11. This one for 12. I like very much !

You would think the amount of snow to have fallen at resorts would be a lot simpler than it seems to be. Put a ruler at top, mid, and bottom then measure the snow stacked against and report.

Tis good when the gums look this way

Freeze levels still look high in NSW, judging by the low cams.

Still -0.5 at 1600M so Snow down to 1400M I reckon and settling above 1500m. Just got through the warmest part of the day so should be on the slide now as the moisture start to hit again in NSW. Looks to have been snowing all day from down here in Jindy with the mountains bairly visible.

From the radar I reckon we may get about 2cm an hour for the next 5 or 6 hours in NSW maybe more in VIC.

Snow stopped at falls about 3.30pm and the sun almost peeked through

Must be 40cm+ fresh over the back and a bit less at village level

Wonderful days' skiing with fresh tracks still at 4.30. Skied home trail to the door. What more could we ask for...

Snowed almost all day at Perisher, good skiing but not great, soft fresh snow everywhere however you'd be hard pressed to call it powder, I clipped a few hidden rocks when venturing under ropes etc. Vis was patchy, winds were high and not enough terrain was open. Was looking good for tomorrow when I left, temps were definately dropping and snow seemed to be heavier. With Guth, Mount P and top station opening it's going to be a cracker

Depends if you stay on the open runs. Those open have deep cover and the only rocks are the tops of the big ones. Summit yet to open and still a few rocks there I would think.

    Snowing lightly now

If someone (CM?) pm's me their email I can send a couple of pics of the accumulation for them to post

Could always ask for moar snow!

Still, good day at Falls with heaps of fresh snow falling. Even had some blue sky (almost) for about 40 minutes in the mid arvo. Hopefully there's some more terrain open tomorrow.

Snow line looked to be below Howman's all day.

Cloud seeding underway tonight in NSW. Hoping that they can sneak another 10cm overnight for me hitting up MT P or Guthega in the morning. Radar looks good for snow showers for the next few hours.

Satelite shows some more thickness about to go through the Mt Gambier area.

Very cold in the Baw Baw area -3.7 and snowing I would almost GAURENTEE snow down to @ least 700m with those kind of numbers.

Cant substantiate though. Hope to go and have a look tomoz!! =D

Looks to have almost stopped in P. Looks to be some moisture crossing the coast in VIC so should give a good layer of drier snow for the morning. I reckon another 10 is not out of the question but watch those rocks off-piste as there is not much underneath. Eyre should be the goods. [IMG]

Looking at the cams there is still moisture falling - but its hard to know what's snowmaking. Take a look at the moisture guage at PV - http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDN60801/IDN60801.94915.shtml - accumulation has been steady-ish all day really.

the baws are just slowly ticking over nicely, 1 cm / hour. not niseko, but good temps for SW, and its the first hill off the sea. i was a bit afraid the back-off in the 4 day chart for the final sweep on sun-mon might turn it a bit warm for the baws, but it looks fine

booked a room for tomorrow night up there for the family so ill give some real observations tomorrow....but looks like slow steady accumulation for next few days there
