I observe falls and Buller in a ssw
And hotham and baw baw in a nw
Thanks Astro and Karicta! Looks great!
I see some cold temps good for freezing the base.
The two most important obs since I got to Buller:
Cold southerly blowing, was snowing lightly when we drove up the hill but seems to have stopped. From the feel underfoot it was definitely warm at some stage, even though the AWS was out one could infer that from Hoth/FC anyway.

that statue is going to get piles
Got to Perisher about 10pm. -4 at Daners Gap, -3 in PV carpark. Now completely starry night at Sponars (-2C).
approaching minus 8 at pb, is the snow finished?
Observe that in a big system like this, Hotham will always score best.
temperatures in nsw resorts have plumeted in the last hour or two. -6.7 thredders TS
Brr -7.3 at thredbo and -9.9 at Bottom of the Perisher Quad Express Chair
Fan gun pumping at LM
nice perisher mid
not a cloud in the sky here at perisher with a light breeze, epic day atm
Perisher and Gotham look stunning on the cams right now with clear blue skies! Can't wait to smash it
Snowing lightly at Buller.
Tweet from Hotham that it's been snowing in harrietville
Very light 'snow' falling at falls
Same at Hotham
clouding over again in the NSW fields!
Just got back from Perisher. Sunny cold morning with 10-15cm of fresh dry snow on top. For June 23 it was quite epic. Crowds got into it quickly so went to Blue cow where it was a little cloudy. When we got back to Perisher it was blowing snow and had come in again. Car said -1c in the car park when I left at 12. Looked like it may have been snowing again when we looked up from the Hatchery area towards the range.
Why on earth did you leave?!?!?!
Sunny as a sunny thing here in Sydney. Time for some vitamin D before regular transmission is resumed.
At the bottom of the Quad it is -2c, and -4.7c at the top!
Surprised I can't see any snowmaking on the cams.
Yep - a classic Sydney winter's day today eh Undies, although slightly cooler than usual (definitely for June with a top of 15 today). Light to moderate W breeze blowing and glorious clear blue sky day.
Beautiful in the sun but chilly out of it - it's going to be COOOOOLD tonight / tomorrow morning.
Snowmaking still going over in the superpipe area (you can see it on the eiger chalet cam). After the falls and massive nights of snowmaking - they are probably moving to after hours snowmaking mainly coz i know in previous years people have complained about being blasted by guns through the day.
knee deep for people that use socks for trousers
Hasn't stopped since my last post, indeed became heavier. Prob 2cm...
Swung west at Buller this arvo, we all know what that means.
From Hotham's facebook. Epic pic.
Just got back from Guthega, what an epic day!. Boot deep and light all day long, found places to lay down freshies every run. Been skiing NSW resorts for 25 years and definitely the best day I've had in Oz, perhaps even better than many Hokkaido days (maybe I'm still a bit excited). Weather wise it stayed sub zero all day and had a few light flurries during the day but mostly sunny
Still going. Coming down hard and accumulating nicely but small flakes
Raining at Buller.
Snowing lightly at perisher atm but doesn't look enough to accumulate much
snow getting slightly heavier at perisher in the last five minutes and a fairly stiff wind to go with it.
Looking from my place up towards Perisher this morning looks like it is snowing. The gauge at Perisher suggests a couple of cm's overnight a little heavier in the last hour or so.
Light misty not snow falling in village
Looks like a few cm overnight
Looks a bit wet on the falls cams at the moment. The ones in the village anyway.
maybe update your location so everybody knows where you are?
Footed it to the top of Olympic before lunch, flamin windy but well worth it. Untracked and about 20 to 30cms deep and dry. Snowing lightly on and off, the cover is in great shape.
Well done. What is the boot pack from the top of the Quad looking like ?
Quads only running to mid so we came over from the top of mt P. what's boot pack? If that means how much were we sinking when footing it, if you stayed on the crust it was fine but on the wind blown pockets it was up to knee.
Bootpack refers to the track you climb uphill on. If you are the first it is difficult as you get all the soft snow. However, you also get the best ski out. As more people go they tend to walk in the same compacted tracks, which forms a bootpack.
Major props to you if you were the first to track up the top of olympic! People will be following your bootpack for the rest of the week
Had some freezing rain over night at perisher, pleasant valley quad had to be de-iced before opening, also put a hard crust on a lot of the new snow so no more freshies.
Whats going on at baw baw AWS 24mm?
Barely even a spit here in moe less than 40km south
Baw Baw AWS always a bit dodgy for precip totals.
Yea ive noticed that this seems particularly dodgy though ha.
OK now I understand, no boot pack when we went so I guess we started it. It was a slog in places but really worth it.
Wet and misty at falls. Not at all pleasant. Hopefully things improve tomorrow.
