Really cold and blustery here in Jindy light rain. Was warm most of the nite - but finally cooled down around 4am. Was quite strange by the lake last nite. Facing north was warm and almost tropical - facing south you could feel what was coming with the cold wind building - it was like the two weather patterns were fighting it out over the Snowys. But it felt like the cold was a bit stronger and would eventually overwhelm the remaining warmth to the north ... it better bloody do such.
Soundings are showing that 0C transition is about 780-790hpa, so well above resort level at the moment. That was last nights sounding though, let's see what happens around midday today when the next ones come out.
I am very happy. Honestly I could not see snow until Thursday. This is a big bonus. I see wind, wet snow and observe holes and rocks and shrubs getting filled in and covered.
It's safe to say you rock @JaneBunn, big respect for all you bring to the weather world. I observe white cams makes everything a little better! Screw work, let's all go riding hey?
Jane called for 10-20 cents outta todays pre-dinner canapés, even half that will be a bonus IMO. We are only just getting started, the big dance is still to come. #SolisticeSaysWinterHasStarted #Let'sDance
Rainband is behind schedule (was originally scheduled to hit Melbourne around midday). Looking at sat pic and radar it's going to be a bit after that.
Quite nice in Melbourne at the moment, blue skies, wispy clouds. Was a nice ride in today compared to the last couple!
Off topic, but as always, just as I bump the bike down the stairs, the heavens opened in Essendon & soaked the legs in first 2 mins! Gave the new marmot windbreaker a run so top half was toastie
I fly out to canberra from Melbourne tonight through till friday. If i can get any snaps of the nearby hills or over the ranges in the air, i shall post them here.
Rain just started here in mildura. As it did, temp jumped from 11 to 15 on car temp guage. That being said, from years of observations, 16 and rain here is normally snow at about 1400-1500mtr when it gets down there
Yep- i expect that will change to 15 real soon, soon as the rain started it went up, just as i posted. the next 12 noon report will be different
Flurries in the village at Thredbo. It's still very wet though, nothing sticking. Top half of the mountain is looking white
