5 or 50mm scullee? Maybe I had lived in the tropics too long as it doesn't seem
like much. I do observe that a friends private weather station near drouin dropped from 16 to 8.5 degrees (and now plateaued) in about 10 mins, 40 mins ago but only 1mm of rain.

Hotham gets the most snow and it seems the most rain too. This is going pear shaped. I was hoping for one more ski this year but it's looking like it's gonna be snotty mashed potato porridge stew by next weekend. Bollocks!

Looks like snow on the VT cam this morning. Thredbo website has temp at top station at 0.2 but BOM observations has it at -4.7...

BOM temps progressively cooled after 1am. Thredbo website data must have stalled.

Snowing steadily in Thredbo. Looks to be about 3-4 inches on the ground in the village, probably more up top :)

Blue Ribbon still loading according to Hotham FB.

So who were these people that said some rain would end season 2012?

Bit hyperbole from a few there smitty. Having said that, if Hotham got 150mm like the AWS suggests then it would be pretty flamboyant_expletive.

Remember the bluebird day a couple of weeks ago where the AWS reading was reading increasing moisture through the day? It was showers most of the day yesterday but nothing torrential, anyway, mushy looks good this morning:

Well this season just keeps on giving, Buller and Baw Baw look like they are getting plenty and thankfully Hotham has turned the right way. That massive rain number at Hotham is interesting! But the base was so deep in most areas that if they get 20cm or so this weekend then no real problems I think.

when you have another 10 days booked and it rains 130mm in the 2 days before you get there i think panic stations were warranted.

last night (williamstown, vic) I walked onto the tennis court at 815pm and instantly the weather changed it was amazing went from calmish and warm to polar and bucketing down.

Well I don't think any of the resorts have officially received 100mm +. That wasn't forecast either.

But I think most people get too emotional. One rain event does not end a season. Seriously, it doesn't. I'd be more concerned about a few days of the hairdrer effect than some rain at marginal temps.

Models have got this one pretty much right so far.
The cold change around midnight was very accurately predicted. In terms moisture (apart from the Hotham figure) it's been pretty much spot on.
Lets hope the prognosis for today holds firm.

yep - looking the goods for today with some more accumulations IMO. And looking very good wind wise post Saturday - very strong winds today making it unpleasant. Bring on Skiing for the week at the Guth from Sunday afternoon - wohoohoo.

im a bit skeptical of the 150mm+ at hotham

Back in 2010 in late august/early september hotham went from a base of 185cm to just around 110cm in the space of a week. That included 3 days of temps 4.6, 6.4,6.7 and 190mm of rain in the week. Even though conditions were a bit worse back then I would have thought to expect at least 40cm of cover loss for this event.

I observe correct accumulation around 10 cm perisher around 6 am , however been coming down constant since with high wind @ poor vis. I'm now gauging a post outside lodge @ village level around 30+ cm @ 10am .

Blowing a gale in Sydney and noticeably cooler - current temp around 18.

There's bound to be some property damage from fallen trees today.....
