New thread for 2017!
Spencer's Creek depth measured on 7th June @ 19.1cm
...And it begins. A 'lil over 19cm of sweet, white goodness right there.
Was that snow or flora ...
Or water flowing....
Breaking things that work appears to be in full operation at Snowy Hydro with their new website.
New URL for snow depth is
there is no forwarding link from the old page addresses.
You also need to manually select 2017 and run compare to get it to load this year.
Can't tell if it's showing zero yet for yesterday and you can only run in year compare mode so the dates are hard to separate.
The old calculator was great. As is so often the case with IT - the new solution is not working properly yet and will need more money spent on it.
If you're interested in getting to 2017 snow depth quicker, create a new shortcut in chrome, then edit the URL bit to this:
clicking it the first time (if not on the depth page) will take you to the page. if already on it, clicking it again will load up 2017 vs 2016
better still, change the 2016 to 1982 in the code above, as thats where it looks like we're heading this year!
Maybe its gonna be like 1986 - late start but good once it started to snow
Nice JS skills!
Can you please fix the problem I have with autoplay=1 on the two Thredbo Live Cam pages ? PM if happy to help.
Such pessimism , its unwanted and totally without substance or foundation. Season will be just below average according to the available data which you obviously didn't read. Data also points to a later start and most likely shorter season because of that.
Still, '82 did have a better start!
SC was 5cm on June 15 - I assume today's reading will be zero
would have thought so, but its gone up to 8cm? could last week's have been wrong? perisher aws didnt show any precip for last week. next weeks should be up over 20 hopefully anyway!
could be like 1991 too... she was a late bloomer
FYI if you edit my shortcut code and put 2017 for both past and current then it shows just the 2017 year
SH is now showing 19/10/8 as the Thursday progression since Jun 7 reading.
Not sure if 10 was a revised number - but someone said Perisher had updated to "5" earlier this week. And I assumed that was the number from SH for spencers on Jun 15.
The gate at Spencer's is closed so can't get up near where they take the measurement (South side of Guthries) without a walk. Here are 2 pics taken this morning in the general vicinity. Top shot looking towards Guthries. Bottom pic is just a scenic shot of the Creek before the gate which is now closed for winter.
Perfect grazing grounds for cows and brumbies.
Weather looks good for it too. Not what i had in mind for almost-July 2017.
It's a very favourable aspect for these couple of systems. I was thinking (and said as much) that 40 would be a good result.
That is a good result. The snow accumulation above 1800m on Mt P is quite good. Hopefully some good loading around Eyre.
Any guesses for this weeks reading ?
I'll go for 54cm this week
Oh the boys in NSW!
Not up to the average Bears knees yet.......!
Would it be easier if us Viccos put in a table like Cedarwood Snow Cam...so you can gather more accurate accumulation details and a little camera with a heated lens cover to show a better display....??
and some cans to enable a more precise appraisal of old /new snow fall.
dunno what that means... but far Q.
i'll go 71.
If they can't even update their new crappy website with today's data from SC - I can't imagine they'll make more than an expensive powerpoint presentation out of Snowy Hydro 2.0 which will have no other purpose than to dress it up to be flogged off.
No thanks. We'll just stick with the independent reading done by a government agency in a scientific reproducible way, and then compare it to the database of past readings from the last 63 years.
I guess the BOM decided to move their RDO's to Thursday!
Great timing on that (Face palm)
It would appear that they did Three Mile Dam instead
It's all looking very 2015ish.
Perisher is now reporting official SC depth at 58.8 in Fridays snow report
Yup 58.8 on the SH website
According to 'The Price is Right' rules, Miffy wins with 54
I'll take that
Na, looking more like a 2000 year.
