I tried it at Mt Buffalo in my 20s. Fell down a lot and had lots of laughs. Don't fancy falling any more now I am (a lot) older. Would not be a lot of laughs.
I’ll sure let them know To be fair, though, a long weekend - or a week - of on snow accomm & tickets etc expenses are a lot of money for a lot of people. I think that’s why there is a lot of waiting around.
Does anyone know if you can leave luggage anywhere at the Perisher Skitube terminal, or at the Hans oversnow office there? I have a booking at one of the hotels for last weekend of the school hols, but their list of Covid provisions include NOT allowing left luggage for guests checking out and skiing on a.m. of checkout prior to p.m. departure via Skitube. All the 'taking luggage down on Skitube and driving back up & parking' not a viable option for a weekend trip for me. Not happy Jan...
The Man from Snowy River last year menu changed daily with choice of 2-3 entrees, 3 mains and 3 desserts. Previous years it's been a choice from an unchanging menu. Food is always good breakfast and dinner in tariff, rooms a little basic but with all requirements, good size clean and warm, great managers and staff. We've stayed there since the 80s and wouldn't go anywhere else. Highly recommended
I got no response from The Man on 3 attempts to contact via email, webpage and phone. Decided they didnt want business so have booked with Sundeck
I had much the same experience. Likewise with Perisher Manor - numerous contact attempts and no return.
Interesting, I had reasonable response times from the Manor this year back in April. MInd you, I at first didnt get a response to their webform, only when I emailed them directly.
It surprises me also as I've always found them responsive. Sometimes email addresses can change though.
Apparently the phone was down for a while but back up now. And there is an automatic response at the moment saying bookings are offline until..... which in the current circumstances is rational and understandable.
Anyway, we may try there next year. Will see how things go. All my contact attempts were back in late April/beginning of May.
On their website. 2020 SEASON UPDATE After much consideration, it has been decided that with the restrictions required to guarantee not only our guests but also our staff a COVIDSafe environment, it will not be feasible to operate Marritz Hotel this winter without a major compromise to the service we provide our guests. We are continuing to operate Salzburg Apartments this winter. We appreciate you wanting to stay with us and hope that we will have the opportunity to host you in Marritz Hotel during the 2021 Snow Season. As such, we are now accepting reservations for the 2021 season.
As mentioned somewhere here a few weeks ago, Pretty Valley Lodge Falls Creek will also not be opening this winter. Up until recently their webpage looked unchanged. I read this today: PUBLIC APOLOGY Pretty Valley Alpine Lodge will NOT OPEN for the duration of the 2020 winter season. Edit: Further details in the Falls Creek thread.
Lodge 21 - On-snow @ Smiggins (Perisher). There's a new chef... Yum food, on-site parking, pub next door and ski lift opposite.
Lodge 21 is a crap hole, i would not suggest anyone stay there, the rooms are not clean. The windows dont seal and the manager.....McGregor cares more about boozing up with his mates then the guests. When we stayed there he was in the lounge room with all his mates, everyone was blind drunk at 1am, we politely asked them to keep quiet only to be sarcastically replied to "dont tell the manager on us" who was sitting right there with them. Poor form. Maby ok if your a couple of single blokes. Food was good there though. IMO
I can't say much about the lodge, having never stayed there, but I *can* say that their website is just horrendous, and feels like a trip back to the early 2000s. *Changed cursor to 3 snowflakes *Moving backgrounds *Huge watermark over all the glamour shots that are supposed to sell me on the thought of staying there *Horribly formatted pricelist of room rates. At least they do make it clear what ages apply to infant/toddler, child and adult.
had a very similar incident, one of the worst accomodation experiences we have ever had. If we could have left during the first night there we would have, we had to find our own room after arriving late, then had to help the next guests arriving to find theirs, then had the staff partying all night. Total shocker !
