    Theres always:

    http://www.sierrasnowboard.com

I bought my snowboard from them. They have cheaper prices than dogfunk and backcountry, but their shipping is more so it evens out. Online tracking of orders is pretty cool too.

If your looking for Burton stuff, you can't get it shipped out of the US. I tried with several different websites but they all dont ship out Burton.

On the specials page. It is a Shell, looks like a casual jacket, waterproof, breathable with a hood. Actually, I just looked up the invoice, It was $29.95. It has SBTM on the front. It is much better than I expected and will be great for Australia spring skiing.

I just clicked on it as an extra when I bought the others stuff.

Just looked through many of the above sites. The major problem retail has at the moment in Australia is cost and exchange rate margin. The Australian snow retailers have high costs and low volumes. This is all passed on to the end price. The stock in store is often size limited due to the nature of the market. Wholesalers here do not want to hold stock, they work on pre-order hence the product choice becomes limited. The killer is that all of the current Australian stock of Ski and snowboard product has been bought and fixed at exchange rates closer to 65 cents in the dollar / USD AUD. With a current exchange rate running at 88c and likely to hit parity by the end of the year. The price disparity between US online and OZ retail no matter what format, is very large. The killer being end of season excess stock runnout in the US online stores. Discounts are at least half Oz prices landed in Australia. A difficult time for ski retailers if too much leakage occurs.

Dont blame the local guys, they set margins to costs and are locked into the current cost structure.

What would a reasonable price be for shipping a pair of ski boots, some thermals and some ski socks (as everything else I have is pretty good already)?

I tried to get some stuff from Backcountry at the end of our summer, but their customer service rep told me that she was unsure about what duties I'd have to pay. Also she said something about not being able to ship certain brands on their catalogue. Is this the case or did I just get a dud rep on this occasion?

Check out the Australian Custom website or search the archives here. There is/was a thread here either in early 2007 or last year that dealt with the custom limits. I could be wrong but I believe the limit has gone up to A$1000 this year before Oz Custom starts applying GST/Custom duties. Recently I paid US$550 for some goods from the US and didn't get hit with any GST or Custom duties.

BackCountryOutlet does have some good deals but the shipping cost can be more than another shop. For example a helmet costing US$40, you may get hit with a US$50 shipping charge. A ski might cost US$100 or more to ship to OZ. What you can try is put the item into your cart and then check out but before you get to the payment section put in you country destination and the cart will update the shipping charges. Obviously if the charges are more than you vcan bear then empty the cart. I believe tthat the more you buy the extra charges becomes less.

Furthermore, there is a notation with each product if they cannot ship outside the US/Canada. From memory, they can only ship Burton product within the US. For example, they will ship Spyder or Giro products OS.

Sorry, missed that bit. Ski boots would probably attract a shipping charge of US$100 from backcountryoutlet. I think the extras would cost an extra minimal amount.

Anyone know any european sites that deliver internationally?

I've contacted the Nordica importer, and he's completely out of the ski CarveGirl is looking for, and it wasn't brought into the US so I can't use the usual suspects there.

What I'm looking for is the Nordica Dobermann Pro SL XBS ALU in a 165cm

    Any ideas?

Are any of the Oz ski shops able to do a special order for you and get a pair in? Obviously at a good price due to the strong AUD.

They would need to go through the importer TOFF, they can't order direct from Nordica.

As scottski said on the other page, most importers order from manufacturers based on pre orders, so if they don't bring something in, there's little to no chance of obtaining it after that pre order has been placed/received in Aus.

Careveman says he's asked the importer about the ski, so they would generally have said if they could get it in for him [IMG]

I'm keen to get a set of CO2's, and was planning on having them shipped to my sister in the US, and then on to me here (due to the Burton export issue). I'm having a hard time finding a set of Large's though [IMG] I found one place that has them for $209, but only in the Lime colour. Just wondering if anyone knew of a place that has the Black in large? I've checked most of the usual places though [IMG]

    Worth a shot anyway [IMG]

    Thanks guys

To answer your first question, I got a sweet deal off of http://www.blue-tomato.at

Take approximately 17% off of all the listed prices as we don't have to pay their VAT tax or whatever it is. I'm not sure whether it has what you want though.

I looked at a few sites for you CarveMan. Couldn't find the exact model you're after. I checked:

    Telemark-Pyrenees
    Sport Conrad
    Sport Schindele
    Sport Bilek
    Blue Tomato

The killer with the Euro sites is shipping. E.g. Sport Conrad has some great deals, but they wanted to charge me 200 Euros for shipping a pair of skis 6 months ago. If you can find someone to help out with reshipping it can be cheap.

    Here's another one:

    http://www.mountain-peak.de/product_info.php?products_id=126&XTCsid=7d6035f94d204a67e3f1849266366d19

If you're sending them to paedde, the company might try to charge MWSt (~VAT) anyway. You'll probably have to try to get them to send forms or something for reclaiming the tax, and the forms will need to be stamped. Plus a lot of shops charge a lot to send to Switzerland because it's outside the EU (a lot relatively speaking i.e. more than sending anywhere else in Europe - usually ~20 Euros or so).

When I got my skis sent to Paedde I didn't have to pay the 17% VAT but he had to personally pay around a 7% Swiss tax when they arrived/when he picked them up (don't worry, I am paying him back [IMG] ).

RE: what about customs $$$ cut?

We got our boards from the US for half the price of what they are in shops here (If at all! Haven't seen anyone with my board as yet!)

On our shipping/customs documents, the online store we bought from just put "GIFT" and put the $ value about $100US, cheaper than what we paid to avoid any extra hidden catches. Arrived all in tact, riding both new boards right now...awesome!!!

yea the internation shipping thing burton has going is kinda annoying. i had to send my bindings and boots to some rellies and they sent them on to me. If you dont have any relatives in America its kinda inconvenient, especially when theirs new missions going for $50!

Wow that's a very interesting site!! I was about ready to order them off ebay and pay a bit of a premium for it too. Thanks for the link!

Obviously you had no problems with them? How was the service and why did you have to pay the californian sales tax??

I think this got around that because you're technically shipping to a place in the US, then they are forwarding the package to you.

cheapie: The californian sales tax is because the item is first shipped to a location in USA (the company who purchases on your behalf) then shipped to you, so you have to pay the tax for them.

Also the service was good they email you thoughout the proccess to update you on the details and ship emidiatly when they receive the item.

Ahhh I see, the forwarding company is based in CA.

I can't believe I placed an order with them and the Missions on Sierrasnowboard have gone back up to the normal 50% off price!! [IMG] Now I have to try and chase them up to amend/cancel the order. Guess they don't work w/ends cos they haven't got back to me yet. I'm just too anxious to get these things before I go back up at the end of Aug.
