Valentine's day is 14th Feb, when men are given something by women in Japan, while 14th March is "White Day" when women are given something by men....
So I guess women will give men Sukky....... LOL

Recently, a Japanese major tv news program used this map without noticing something is wrong and they apologized later on. Do you notice what is wrong:p?

Yep:thumbs:, it actually really happened very recentlyROFL. It was a rather serious tv news program, which made the mistake even funnierROFL. I guess someone uploaded the map and the staff of the tv news program tried to pick up a map randomly from Google Image, and unfortunately the staff picked up the wrong Japanese map:p

    Australia should be this big:cool:

Looks like the cherry blossoms are starting to open. Lot's of Hanami parties this weekend. But I cna nver understand the idea of "tranquility" of Sakura(Cherry blossom) viewing, when there's:
    1. Hundreds or even thousands of people.
    2. They bring food & drink, and electric blue ground sheets, instead of a more "tranquil" colour.

ALSO, looks like I will be attending the Kanamara Matsuri at Kawasaki on Sunday, at the Kanayama Shrine.

    they do love their festivals
I was in Kyoto in early 2014 during a festival and there were huge numbers in town, all over the historic buildings etc
lots of young people in traditional garb - who doesn't go for an opportunity to dress up?

Got to agree with all of that. Its like a blue tarp is mandatory if one is to sit on the ground in Japan.
I have 4 sakura trees on my proprerty that were very overgrown so I trimmed them back substantially, will be interesting to see how hard they bloom

"The Kanamara Matsuri is centred on a local penis-venerating shrine. The legend being that a sharp-toothed demon (vagina dentata) hid inside the vagina of a young woman and castrated two young men on their wedding nights. As a result, the young woman sought help from a blacksmith, who fashioned an iron phallus to break the demon's teeth, which led to the enshrinement of the item"

Went to the Bonden Matsuri in Yokote, Akita in Feb. Same sort of symbolism but probably would be PG rated compared to the Kanamara's MA by the looks of it.

Japanese workers.... If they work until 9-10pm, they have something to eat about 7pm. All the decent Conbini food is gone so usually what's left over is crap: stale or unhealthy food, or instant noodles.
