Who is heading up for the party?

Its getting more expensive for me. Taking the wife, and she has decided she needs clothes. I reckon a K would be the best I could hope for there.

If the weather is good, and the snow, er, usual, we might go for a shoe one afternoon if anyone is interested.

Well we will be there! Clothes!!!! <grrrr> don't get me started, the wife cant possibly shop online, so we go into Snowbound (very cool shop good range) and she finds some nice $1k SOS jacket. At this point heart palpitations start.

Then she looks around and finds nice Karbon jacket. I'm frantically looking on other racks for something cheaper. I find a nice burton for her, much more reasonably priced.

    What does she do................................ <arrrgghhhhh>

She says I wont take the SOS .... I smile.... [IMG]

She says I will take BOTH the Karbon and the Burton....

I fall down on floor of shop and cry.... Actually it was after that that I told her I had ordered a new snowboard .. hehehe

Seriously we should all catch up, late morning at Meritts Cafe?

EDIT: Props to the guys at SNOWBOUND. Great service, Great range, I am thoroughly get sick of shopping in stores where they only stock the one or two brands that they import themselves. If you are only gonna offer that to me then don't gouge me on the retail price, you are dble dipping!!

My wife and I will be there as well Telecrag. Agree with Niedecker - a catchup at Merritts on Saturday morning sounds good. Otherwise the pub in the late afternoon?

If you're in the village LM, what about a catch up on Friday evening? We are heading down around lunchtime so should be there about 5:00. Should be OK for a beer or two around 6pm? Otherwise, Sunday would be OK.

Ditto. Although an old school mate of mine will be there from the Tuesday - haven't seen him in 25 years! [IMG] Might be worth the drive around a few days. Bizarrely given we are both Freo kids - he's a snowboard instructor [IMG]

+1 was saying how sad, I said there is never much skiing on opening, she said why are we going then then? I said its the perfect time to take a non skier. The atmosphere is great, and she wont be sitting around by herself while I ski all day. Perfect.

Chatting with a mate (who owns the apartment we are staying in) I may be either going bc if it looks good, +1 can shoe it, or a bit of mtb. So wont be totally lazy, come what may.

Spent the rainy w/e getting some stuff sorted for the rest of the season.

I sure hope there's some snowfall in that first 2 weeks! Not sure my new skis want to go sliding on grass.

[IMG] no...but I do have a pic of me grass skiing in the 70s somewhere...

We had a good laugh on my 40th birthday because Mum did a photo board.
An old friend from Primary School came along who I hadn't seen in decades - I was so impressed with her chutzpah! She brought her sister with her, who I vaguely recall- and turns out her sister was in one of the photos!!
I discovered snow at 37, and it has consumed me since then ... but looking back at my pics I have photo's of me as a toddler cuddling a massive inflatable snowman, and grass skiing - everyone reckoned it was only a matter of time.
There were also a lot of pic's in my racing bathers and holding swimming trophies - the boys were surprised there was a connection with their water polo because they had never known me as a swim competitor.

    Love old photo's! [IMG]

Found 'em! In terrible condition - but here ya go... have a laff [IMG]

Alright, gonna buy hiking boots for the little one, and am taking a terrabyte of movies with me. Probably gonna have to add more red wine to car, and drop $50 on a Segway ride at Lake Crack.. for the daughter. Come on lets get started with your no snow ideas!!

IF there is no snow and not even beginner bowl and FF open:

    1. Me and probably 3 friends will do hiking. The other two may do fishing -- I think fishing in Thredbo river is still allowed this weekend.

    2. We'll not buy lift pass, but will buy scenic pass for two days, taking them up Kosi and maybe wander a bit beyond that. I don't think they're ready to walk a long way to Mt Kosi.

    3. We will bring lots of food, snack and drinks for our picnic on top of Thredbo.

    4. We might do outdoor BBQ in the evening -- if the BBQ place is available.

    5. We will play cards at night -- like any other trips we did before.

    6. We will be happy at the end of the trip, although my friends might still be a bit disappointed about snow.

    Don't fish the river now.

You can legally fish the snowmaking lake at thredbo or the pondage behind the skitube 24hr car park or lake crackenback all winter.

Let the fish in the river spawn.

    We'll try:

Relaxing in a beautiful Alpine Village
The opening weekend sales in Jindy
A hike to Kosci on Sunday
The long lunch, the pub, the fashion parade
Catching up with good friends and old over some red wine (Niedecker) and Schnapps (Sourmash ??)
Meeting some new Friends - DOS, LadyMamaBear, Telecrag

My biggest disappointment will be having to wait to see Niedecker on skis [IMG]

A mate put up a pic on FB of him in the pond yesterday, cleaning out the filter. He was wearing a dry suit, with a down jacket and pants under, but still looked cold.

Why would you have a dry suit in Thredbo? Then again, I wore a wetsuit in the Keller bar on night? Beach party I think... Don't really remember [IMG]

No way a wettie would cut it in the water up there in winter, and someone is going to have to go in sometimes.

Booked in at Terrace tomorrow night, mines the one with the notation Karen97. But I will meet you one day before SIC, you may be too busy tomorrow. I wonder if we have met before, I dont think so. I hear you have been running amok in a new car.

Pattern base, so light and shit, which will doubtless match the conditions. Ill hike in boots to a nice drift, and hit it, noodly style. There have not been many openings that I have not skied, its just the definition. Dont worry I will get +1 to take a pic.
