Hi guys!
Partner and I are headed to Jindy for the winter. We’re riding at Perisher and have a ski tube pass.
We’ve got a VW transporter that’s pretty discreet / self sufficient. We have some campsites / caravan sites booked around the place but there’s a few nights we’re unable to find any thing.
I’ve heard they’ve cracked down on informal camping in Jindy so wondering what our options are. We know there’s overnight parking at Bullocks Flats, could we get away with a few nights? We’re planning on riding for full days and only being in the van to sleep.

Also the council formally voted to ban all overnight sleeping outside of offical caravan parks or dwellings.

Ie on top of the sleeping on streets and claypits rule. Its now everywhere in the region.

They're 4m over budget, have pissed off the resorts, residents, business owners and now they're suing 1500 people for their dodgy admin charges. Highest rates in the country and elections in October.

They're toast. All of them. Nats.

Hey do you have a source for this please?

It doesn't sound suprising, but very concerning - have they now effectively made homelessness an offence throughout the entire LGA?

Im guessing it on the public record from the minutes?

That's shocking that Council would place a blanket ban, excuse the pun. Sleeping rough / in a car is a fundamental right that they're infringing on. You need to be able to do hunker down somewhere, as long as you can do it with minimum impact.

You might think differently if you woke up and saw someone taking morning piss on your front garden. FFS seasonal van lifers are not homeless - it's a lifestyle choice (problem doesn't exist in outside winter months - they f@¥k off to the beach side towns and do the same). Been to Byron or towns in NZ on the tourist trail lately.

No. They weren't saying vanlyfers were homeless. They were saying councils bylaw to deal with vanlyfers now leaves homeless people open to the same fine. Yes there are homeless here. Fining people for being homeless is a lowlife act.

The actions of the local council are on behalf of the ratepayers in the area in response to the massive increase in van lifers, the turds and rubbish they leave during winter. I see the same pressures increasing in summer. The actions are not in response to permanent Jindabyne residents who maybe homeless.

They are homeless by definition.

If indabyne wamts to profit from exhorbatant rentals without providing affordable accomodation for staff they get homeless people doing homeless people things.

No seasonal staff means no Jindabyne.
