    Hi Folks,

Does everyone need to fork out $144 (family of four) every time you stay on mount, or are there ways around this?

    Cheers

    Haha. Aside from walking?

What would happen if you parked in the day carpark, and caught the Northside Express up to the village? Do they book cars parked overnight there?

Buller taxis are a PITA, but if you don't want to pay for the whole family, why not send one person up with the taxi and luggage and the rest walk?

Doable if the weather is OK and all are reasonably fit, but if not, about half way into that climb you're gonna wish you just ponied up the $22.

If you're leaving early ish Sunday, it's easy enough to put one person in a taxi w/ luggage, and have everyone else grab the free day bus down to skating rink.

This won't work if you are parked further down the hill, though.

It's a bit of a racket at the best of times, not any way to beat it really except using small backpacks and duffle for each person, carried on board the village bus after you leave the day car park. One can stay with the car or return to it and then move it the overnight parking area.

At Perisher the generally northerly exposed paved road going up to the Nordic Shelter, some lodges and radio tower is usually traffic able by public vehicles, but is closed to protect the business of the over snow operator there.

$144 for about half an hour's work, I'm in the wrong business!

Cheers for the idea Angus - I'm thinking I could drop the family at the top car park to catch the free bus up, then park the car down at the overnight car park and catch the taxi up with luggage.

Royal Commission joke went straight over my Kimberlee, haha.

At least they start raping you early on, there's not too much waiting required.

The raping begins before that, as soon as you get to the gates.

The jokes on you when you pony up the cash and feel a pain in your rear as you sit on the bench seats in the back of the troopie.

FCRM has one or two troopies retained for moving various work crews on rough unsealed mountain roads in summer, but they are not in service all the time in winter just occasionally, they prefer VW vans to shuttle overnight parkers up to the village.
