https://7news.com.au/news/vic/austr...Jn8yZQQVRXRi4jBboyVQrJacUjx0-_IDzV5rwEd0v44d8 Why do they do this? Nice if you drive a BMW, most people don’t
it's called a sponsorship deal. who cares about fairness to the paying public Falls Creek already has 2 Tesla spots in what I regard as prime day parking spaces.
I'm guessing that this might be a hint A major sponsorship deal with the German car manufacturer is behind the poorly received promotion, which allows anyone who owns any BMW model to reserve a parking spot right at the top of the mountain.
that's BMW's problem. FCRM will still have their money (and I'm guessing staff cars) and Hotham already do it with Audi Buller on the other hand give priority parking to any prestige 4WD owned by the right people
Perisher sponsored by Subaru for many years gives priority parking to anybody who gets up early - even Subaru drivers
Yep. Perisher even have those nice parking attendants who wave frantically at you while you select your preferred spot.... So nice of them to wave hello each morning
Wankfest for showoffs. In my family it was bad form to talk about money and display trappings of wealth. Modesty is good.
They tried this a few seasons back with Attitude Volvo and the carparks were empty all season while frustrated guests were looking for space on busy days. At least this one is for overnight only and needs to be prebooked. Having one or two cars parked overnight in what is a day parking area will impact on efficient snow clearing of carparks following overnight falls. No snow clearer is going to work their machinery close to a prestige car in a priority park and effectively wil make more than the one space
Is there a year limit on the BMW. If someone rocks up in a beaten up old 1998 3 series do They still get parking, or do I have to have a new X5?
I imagine too that if Audi were doing this at Hotham, then BMW needed to do something similar. Also Falls would have their nice BMWs for the season and have managed to extract enough from BMW to make the loss of 10 spots worth their while Oh yes, and pissing off non BMW drivers at no extra charge
methinks the revenue lost from whingers who boycott will be far less than the sponsorship amount paid by BMW
Fair chance it might just be a strategy to piss me off..... the carparks in question are my favourites and my car is parked in one of them most days of the season. Funnily enough, we and a group of our local friends refer to these as "the rockstar carparks", aiming particularly on the weekends to get up early enough to get one.
I don't think any boycott is going to be significant or have any impact on visitation and gate entry revenue. It will just be another point of angst for many against the already unpopular RMB (collector of Resort Entry revenue).....interesting that the BMW sponsorship is both FCSL and FCRMB but this unpopular initiative is under the FCRMB brand. As a percentage of carparks it is an mildly inconvenient promotional stunt at best. Thinking on the run...... my Defender was manufactured during the time that BMW owned Land Rover, wonder if I'd qualify?
Yeah, plenty of cheap ones to be had on ebay. Or I'm sure you could pick one up in the public bar of your local for a good price.
When I drove an Alfa I lost badges every couple of years. I thought about epoxying them in, but I decided that the damage caused by tearing them off would be more expensive than buying new badges.
Skied 24 days at falls last season and not one of those days did we have a problem with getting a park within 60/70 meters of inter poma. Fancy fuggers need fancy parking
It’s what...8 reserved spots to indulge the sponsors desire? If 8 spots is going to make or break your skiing experience then there is more wrong than a beemer sponsorship. When we were in Valle Nevado a few years back they had similar going on with Jeep. Whatever brings in the sponsors and the dollars.
Brumbies had a similar deal with Land Rover (may still do but I catch the bus to Bruce these days) where you got preferred parking
Rock up in this hub capped beauty......back when you had to pay for colour coded door handles and bumpers.
That is a lot of resort overhead to manage. Booking form processing, signage and notification if not booked, priority for maximum days booked. Stralya
both AIUI only Teslas can use that system. I am in favour of recharge points but FC is hardly the most important place to put them. in the valley would be much more useful.
if only these boycotting whingers understood that the sponsorship money that BMW pay will lead to better facilities, lower priced lift tickets etc. Definitely a welfare state attitude there - why are they skiing in the first place?
Will not affect the price of tickets. RMB in charge of parking. Lift company in charge of lift ticket prices.
They'll employ somebody additional to look after the admin of these carparks, that's what the sponsorship dollars will be used for.
I really don’t understand the kerfuffle except for “that was where I liked to park my car!!!”... The more sponsorship deals and excitement and interest that is going on in a ski resort the better!. If we want quiet, peaceful skiing with no wanchor BMW parking then join the chookfooters and go out back.
I can't see that having special parking for a few will generate any excitement or (positive) interest.
I wonder if a 12 horse power BMW Isetta can get up the mountain? Here's proof they can handle snow, albeit with the occasional backfire.
And... another slap to the whiners, whingers and class warfare idiots.. with their envious, infantile comments re sponsored car parks: be grateful we have snow in this country. Give it 20 to 40 years there will be nuffin. except some man made crap.
The more I think about it, the more I'd like to see a BMW Isetta Club rally head to Falls Creek this winter. They could even bring this snow plough with them to keep their exclusive BMW reserved car parks clear.
Do you fit the chains to the front wheels or the back wheel. If it's the back, you could share a set of chains between 2 Isettas
