Managed to squeeze in a few turns this morning. I'm #10 on the leaderboard, no prizes for guessing who is #1 :D

Once it snows and the regulars turn up, I'm going to try and hold onto a top 100 spot (season goal).

Was a nice day today, arrived mid morning with the snow already softening. After a few ski carpets and a couple of V8 runs, we went up to Blue Cow. Lapped the early starter double as my son got his ski legs back. Hardly anybody around, we skied straight on to the chair every time.

Pretty sure I saw Normo, you were just going through the V8 gates as I was helping my son get his skis on :)

Really pretty amazing what they have achieved at Perisher, had a board over at BC today, and the depth of the manmade was impressive. There was one small rock appeared around lunchtime on the run from early starter to terminal quad, but that was the only blemish in an otherwise flawless piste

Fab first 10 days. Was a little cooler today than Saturday. The machine made snow is extremely high quality this year. Much of it was made at -5/-8. Only now is it getting a little old and heavy as not so much new stuff made the last few days with inversion layer. But Zalis did not start mounding badly until noon today. Early Starter and Terminal are in okay shape as well.

FV is still an iceblock with a nuce softer layer on top. Goats and Yabby are chugging along nicely - as is all of Escapade down to the Quad and Sturt. Happy Valley is hard packed and icy, but was probably nicer later in the day.

Front Valley terrain park is now fully operational with a mid size jump built on Saturday.

If they can make a lot more snow in next 10 days once the rain clears, they will be in as good as shape as 2010 for the school holidays, and if there is some natural - they might get some non snow making runs happenings as well. Towers will probably be open, It has snow making all the way down and was open in the 2010 June/July snow drought.

They should extend snow making all along Centre Valley starting with the DuplexT then Leichhardt for the Half Pipe.
For the moment Sun Valley, Eyre and International just look scary,

But Monday should be great fun for those with SDS, a shame I drove home today ...

You should give Zalis ago tmw Normo. You could get crack your first 10,000 day for 2015. Just make them run Summit at full speed.

I expect Alister and Stephen will be battling it out for 2nd place by next week. Tom is waiting for Sun Valley, and Karl and Snowpuff are waiting for July.

I just hope it wasn't peak season already.

Great first day yesterday. Much earlier in the season than we usually start so it was a bit of a shock, family couldn't believe what they were seeing off the man made at Happy Valley - 'Are those rocks/creek/plants usually there?'. Perisher have done very well to have the runs they have. Skied 8.30 till 2.30pm when the Devil stopped turning and was headed straight down every run, she'd had enough. Happy Valley deteriorated as the warm day went on with some rocks and plants showing through on the t-bar track and in the sunny spots, otherwise much better than expected for mid June.
Carpark wasn't full, tube was all but empty and lines were quick. Good day all round.
    Repeat next week.

Maybe off topic a bit but has Perisher got their pricing wrong on the web site...
Says 1 day ticket $109 bought in resort. Doesn't give an online price except "save upto 25% if bought online"
but the freedom flexi (any 3 days) is $359 if bought in resort or $329 if bought online.
Doesn't make sense to pay more for the flexi rather than rock up when you want and pay less

1 day tickets are $109 while very little is open. They'll go up. A 2 day ticket in July is $256. I'm guessing a day ticket is going to skyrocket.

Fri Sat and Sun nights are looking good for big snow making efforts, combined with some natural either side, we are well placed for the school holidays. But without a big dump next week it could be quite crowded with a lot of lifts still to spin. Seriously hoping the kiddie winter sports program on Sun 28 is a blizzard day. Such perverse pleasure dropping them off outside the Manor with 300 other kids for a blizzard day. Makes men and women out of them ...

Still trying to decide whether a sneaky trip is worth it for Friday after hopefully 10-15cm on Thursday? I figure any base left after this rain is going to be kinda wet and water logged so needs a day or so of freezing temps to set it under any fresh stuff........Other option is Tuesday which would be a better bet with several days of snow making/colder temps and some hopefully more snow on Mon into Tues. Thoughts?? Definitely heading down Thursday week for a few days before the school holiday madness descends though....

Snow machines should go on full setting from late Thur and maybe run all the way to Saturday morning. All depends on whether there is some good cold air behind this. But both BOM and. yr.no are going for cold and dry from Friday after some snow Thur nite.

If so, then this weekend good be another sneaky fun time. It will be busier as Qld starts to move in from Friday onwards with 1000s of kids and families for the coming week. Monday will be busy at FV. In fact FV will be unfun much of the week with Qld interschools being held over the week.

This weekend should be ok if V8/Quad trails are all open - last year Quad only opened today and only had bullwheel, and limited slope on main FV. There were lots of accidents on the Sat and Sun afternoons as more and more people started arriving. We left early on the Sunday - "knowing" snowfalls were on the way - though not the "dump" that was yet to come.

With no real snow yet, we will decide mid day Friday whether to weekend warrior it or not. Hope we can do!

Today was very tough. The r**n was constant and penetrating. 3 sets of gloves sopping wet and I left the hill shivering at 2pm.
Apart from the brown patches showing through all over the place, there were a few little sink holes appearing in the water flow lines across FV. Poor visibility at times made it a bit tricky, though the surface was reasonably fast.
When the first layer of new snow comes, it will likely to be very sticky for the first few hours or until it gets groomed in.
Still, good fun experiencing the season unfold.:)
