Another year past and I didn't ski with any forumites that I am aware.
Think I may have seen @Normo & @Ted Harper in P centre one wet morning , but they where doing coffee , I was busy with NSW Interschool team manager / marshalling ( and doing all the shite for the parents that have no clue on the day) and didn't get to say g'day.
Lady Penelope I think have seen around , maybe Interschools same day also ?
I did catch up with @CarveMan on the burst one morning Guthega carpark , he was heading South I was headed West !
Ok now to negotiate Japow in January.
Maybe next year Perisher sic !

    Spring has definitely sprung!

I was having a breather this afternoon, sitting down right out at the extreme resort boundary on Eyre, admiring the view of the main range. I started getting hassled by a couple of blowflies. Then a big colourful butterfly wafted by:)

It was fun skiing with a few forumites today, as well as a few other regulars. The snow is holding up amazingly well. However, when a patch of grass or rock starts to show it expands very rapidly:(

Back in Sydney after another fantastic weekend in Perisher - definitely my last of the season. I mean it this time. No, really.

Towers and Vista were really nice first up today, did about 10 laps on the Mount P. double alternating between the two runs. When they got tracked out I headed over to Eyre but I was too late, it had already been pretty much trashed. Took the Quad to the top and found that Copperhead Road was still open, it was surprisingly firm and fast. I pulled up stumps after that, a great way to end what has been a wonderful season.

Managed to clock 60,000 vms for the season with my last lift (Pretty Valley chair), something to aim for next year (along with a 10k day!).

Was great to meet (and re-meet) a few forumites this weekend, hopefully I'll see you all at Sara's end of year piss up, I mean dinner and drinks evening.

For those of you lucky enough to still be skiing, have a great last week!

Until next season then - back, general health and snow permitting - over and out.

Beautiful warm sunny day at Perisher today. Snow firm first up, then softened and became chopped up as the temps climbed and the terrain was skied upon (note lack of comment re Blue Cow closure?). Still an impressive amount of cover for this time of the year - Mt P was awesome! Found it hard to find my rhythm today, a little frustrated with my turns in particular. Two forum members found me however: lovely to meet you RocketBoy and DidSurfNowSki! Broke the 60,000 VM mark today which I'm very happy with, given a lot of my sking this year has been with the children. Possibly back later this week with the youngest for a bit of sking and some snowman building ...

You may have seen me at Blue Cow this year NFIP, but I'm yet to experience the pleasure of Interschools - still trying to convince Miss 12 to join the Snowsports team in year 7 next year :)

Not as yet. Just called Cooma works depot and they said they would call Wilson's Valley depot and get back to me with the status of when it might open. Really really slack on the RMS' part. They had it opened before the School Holidays last year. Though it did close a couple of times due to some late snowfalls - but it reopened within a day or two. From memory it only opened to Spencer Creek bridge - until the Friday of the LWE when they deemed it ok to finish cutting the turning circle at Charlotte Pass.

The road was ploughed to CP access road a couple of weeks ago and cars are driving through to the CP Village and up to the various lodges at PV and Steve is driving to work at Eyre Cafe.

This is another issue that Tourism NSW needs to get on top of. The road should be opened once CP closes for the season. With only heavy snow the exception to stay closed.

NPWS have nothing to do with the road opening and closing - it is entirely a RMS decision and NPWS have no say on whether access to the Main Range should be facilitated in late Sept. People need to put pressure on the local state member, Tourism NSW and the RMS minister Duncan Gay to get behind local tourism during the school holidays. This is a far more important economic issue than what Perisher does with Blue Cow.

If RMS Cooma calls me back I'll post a further update.

RMS called back and said basically the following.

We cleared the road early to enable the road to fully dry out ahead of making repairs to the road pavement that occurs most years. The final gate above SC bridge was also damaged during winter by oversnow vehicles and cannot be properly secured at this time, and as a result we cannot open the road to SC bridge until the gate is repaired.
Depending on how road repairs go this week the plan remains to have the road open to CP turning circle by the LWE.

I got all excited when I got to the village this afternoon to find the road block in the center gone, alas the gate near Eiger was still shut.

You would think that the SC gate wouldn't affect opening it to the Eyre gate.

Given the amount of snow around it's difficult to remember that there is only a week to go.

Getting a bit bare down low but the creek isn't flowing as full and fast as I recall from previous years at this stage. Could be that the snow higher up is hanging on a bit better.
Stiff breeze today and a bit of cloud cover might protect the surface a little longer!

Well folks, that's a wrap! Pulled the pin on season 2015 at lunch today. Board is now coated in its Summer Wax and I am spending a few days on the South Coast before heading home. 15 days this season all at perisher. Had a fantastic time even the last 3 days. Speed runs early down a forgiving Towers have been great fun the last few days. Thanks to all on here for updates, trip reports and weather forecasts that kept the 'Vibe' going all season. Most of my trips this year were solo, so thanks also to everyone that chatted to me during lift rides. To all Forum members heading North this Summer, good luck and safe travels. Cheers.

Beautiful day here at Perisher. Windy up on Mt P. Heaven help everyone if lifts go on wind hold this weekend - not many t bars left open. In fact, not many lifts at all, despite the cover being better than this time last year. Still some great skiing to be had, particularly on Mt P.
