June was great. Best machine made snow ever in Australia to date. -8 for days. then mixed with 30 cm of natural and topped up over and over for weeks at low temps. They built a complete snow resort. Just could not take the holiday crowd in early July that was a lot larger than 2014 for multiple reasons.

Hopefully they decide to commit most of the net postive cash flow back into the resort for a few years and really make the place zing.

Hard going today. Snowmaking areas for the win. A reopened Leichardt was a pleasant surprise on the way back. Sun valley also nice.

Yeah, yeah. Do you know how much pain my legs are in right now? I have no idea how Normo did 11k today in those conditions. I'll give it a nudge but top 40 might be pushing it.

My season is all over. I'm sad and happy at the same time. It has been a great season for me. I have been lucky enough to do a personal best in days skiied for the season. The ageing body stood up to it reasonably well, with only a few minor gripes. I have skiied with old friends and made new ones this year.

All in all I think it has been a good season. The slow start was painful, but the resort did an absolutely fantastic job with snowmaking. The "season proper" was given a kick start by Barry in late July, and from that point on things have been great. August was cold with great snow, and September has seen some great spring skiing, as well as a few days of good fresh snow.

Over the time I've been lucky enough to be here I've seen both the snow and the people come and go, which is part of the charm. Peoples mood changes from optimism to pessimism and back again, cycling with the weather. Also I've seen just about every weather combination, from -15 one August morning to +18 a few days ago, sunny days, blizzards and whiteouts, wind holds and the dreaded r**n. Worst day if the season for me was the first saturday in August, rain and the strongest winds I've ever seen, so bad that most of the t-bars were on windhold. Best day was a tuesday in early september, beautiful light, chalky fresh snow with a bluebird morning and no crowds at all.

So thanks to mother nature (and perisher) for giving me something good to ski on, and thanks to everyone I skiied with and chatted with this season for the good company. I'll be back next year, and if the conditions permit, hopefully can rack up a new PB in days skiied.

I remember that first Saturday in August. Appalling. Never been more soaked on snow.
But all in all, a satisfying season enhanced by the great vibe of all the nutty folks who go out in anything. I am always amazed at how much I learn about fellow skiers chatting on a 5 minute ride on Eyre.

That Saturday was fully repeated the next day with wet snow - kids had devo races that day. Everyone left at noon and Normo spent the afternoon skiing freshies after it finally cooled down - in the sun shine.

Fun morning today - 10 laps of the V8 and a single carpet to exit on for good luck.

6 lifts open on Monday. Happy and the Quad join the usual suspects of Eyre, V8, C3 and the MtP Triple this year. And Mitchell on standby if V8 goes on wind hold. If only it was still cold. Neither the double or triple have run the past 2 years so great to see Towers back for the final day.

The season finished for me yesterday. I had a great time skiing at Perisher and saw every condition possible. Skied 72 days and finished no. 5 on the leaderboard. Perisher did an amazing job early in the season with snow making and grooming to get some of the resort running. I made new friends while talking on the lifts and met up with old friends as well. I would love to see Perisher improve the food on the mountain. I am happy to pay good money for good food but won't pay for cr*p food. Looking forward to the beach now but already missing the snow.

Pure fluke.......thought I'd just squeezed in the 11,000 but an extra run on the v8 lined up all the "ones".
Now I'm going to have to try for a 22,222..........:D

I'm surprised they're still running Eyre. Might have a short look at it early, but I found it too hard going yesterday.

Just wanted to thank everyone who have contributed to this thread this year...particularly @Normo for his daily updates and photos. We live in QLD and with a family including teenagers only get to visit essentially during school holidays but I still check daily how things are going down there which just keeps me so keen to get back there and in training.
@Normo my teenage sons were so keen to get a selfie with you when we visited last...you hold a legendary status within the household due to your tenacity and sheer enthusiasm that you display as you chase insane vertical metres everyday of the season. As was expected they saw you many times over at Eyre and on first tracks on the V8 but chickened out when they saw you...perhaps next season...lol
    Have a great off-season!

My daughter and I were thrilled to ride the V8 with you Normo early one morning last week. I managed to pluck up the courage to congratulate you on your million VMs just before we got off the chair. You are an inspiration and we hope you had great season. Looking forward to sharing a chair with you next season.

I should be getting to Eyre about 230 for a last few runs for the season. Will then be aiming for last lift on the V8

I can't remember the last time I saw EITHER Towers or Front Valley hold together so well until season's end - let alone both of them. Perisher have done an excellent job this year. Just wish I could have taken advantage of it.

That's it for me. What a great season. 40 days, over 150,000 (recorded) vertical metres and ended on a day like today. Thanks to all the forumites I've had the pleasure of skiing with this season, and especially the first lifts crew. Made getting up early for some fast runs down FV so much fun. See you all in 2016.

Oh and @IAB, did you see what I did? Never one to back down from a challenge ;)

Lovely catching up at first lifts and for hot chocy at mid-station.

I did see what you did. Awesome effort of setting a goal for Top 40, then achieving it. Normo may have got Man of the Match. But you are definitely a shoe in for Most Improved.
