OK.....a quick summary before the red takes effect and my memory turns to mush...
It has been a surprising season, highlighted by the Perishers ability to make something out of nothing in June /July, nature to provide in August and a combo effort from Nature and Perisher to keep the cover intact right to the very end today.
July had huge crowd numbers and the available terrain was limited, but that situation was managed really well, the result being that most punters had a reasonable experience (even if VM chasers were bit frustrated :)).
The snow arrived in August. Minimal r**n events and cold temps held it all together and we got to play to the max.
Reading back through this thread is a great way of re-living the way it has unfolded (and I'm delighted to have been a part of capturing the moments that tell part of that tale).
I've had my own challenges this season and I'm very pleased to have been able to keep skiing, despite some discomfort, and I will be eternally grateful to the encouragement and support of those friends and fellow travelers who shared in the fun and good vibes with me.
So, for the statistically minded, my final tally was 1,146,917VM, 7514 lift rides,26 different lifts, and 121 days of skiing (out of a possible 123).
I promise to try a bit harder next year! :D:cheers:

Only 121 days? Bit of a slack effort :)

My last day was on Saturday (saw you around Normo for the first time, we usually hang out at different parts of the resorts, wanted to meet and greet/congratulate you but couldn't catch up with you!) and it couldn't have been a better day to finish up on.

Another great season behind us, and while there has been a lot of critical comments towards Perisher this year (from myself included), upon reflection they put together a fantastic product as usual, the best in Australia IMO. Some fantastic memories made again this year, a favourite was the Perisher staff shovelling snow on the return trail from Guthega to BC to get it open (and keep it open) at the start of the season, new friends made, and managed to put in 25 days which is more than I thought I'd get this year.

Enjoy summer everybody, whether that be hanging around in Australia soaking up the heat or heading overseas for another snow fix, stay safe and I look forward to sharing the mountain with you again in 2016.

    Great effort @Normo
I had a couple of lift rides with you over the winter including first lift on Saturday.

My season wasn't quite as big as yours :p only 9 days :(

I was a little disappointed not to have done more days, but a bad cold, plus bad weather (for my 7 year old son) when we had planed to go up meant it wasn't to be.

Still had a great season and will be back next year.

What a great season overall. Perisher managed their resources fantastically to keep as much of the resort open as humanly possible. For me, it started on Queens Birthday long weekend and went through to last weekend.

It was so good to share a few turns with the Perisher Mini-SiC crew, those chasing VMs and fellow forum skiers. There was some nice cold weather camping, mixed up with Hotel Honda accommodation in the wind and rain and staying with friends with that oddity which is hot running water with a roof over your head. Good times all.

Some personal milestones for me this season:
    - 8th Aug #1 on the Perisher leaderboard - 1st time ever above 14,000 vms in a day
    - I managed to be >10% of the overall leader - 1st time ever
    - 25 days on snow - most days in a season for me
    - Over a thousand lift rides - most ever in a season for me
    - 176,848 vms - most ever in a season for me and a top 25 finish overall
    - I correctly picked the largest snowfall of the year when others were calling my forecast a hopecast !

To everyone I've shared a lift ride with, chased down the hill and perhaps had a few quiet drinks with, a big thank you. I had a blast.
    Here's to season 2016 !!!

Well done Normo, SkiChic, DSNS and others for achieving some very impressive milestones. Enjoy the red wine Normo - hopefully a lovely full-bodied Cabernet to accompany a juicy steak, unless you're a vegetarian of course, in which case substitute a plate of delicious tofu.

    Eight months to go ...

Easy way to answer that is backwards - those without - Guthega Carpark double - Nth Perisher T, Telemark, Lawson, International, Olympic, and a couple of carpets and maybe Tom Thumb T. Otherwise everything else is RFID equiped. apx 38+ are counting VMs.

It doesn't monitor international, olympic, lawson, home rope tow, north perisher, car park double and one of the paired T-bars at Wentworth and Smigs. That is a list off the top of my head, there are probably more.

Then there are a lot of lifts you have no desire to take, eg ski carpets at perisher, blue cow, smigs.

I pretty much rode every lift in the resort apart from carpets and got 28 lifts on my total.

Yes forgot about Blaxland and Willis at Smigs. And of course the home rope tow. - So maybe 35 - or 33 if you take off 2 more carpets.

I did my stuff on 26 lifts.......did a few without gates, but not often or many. Missed a few scans when gates malfunctioned (though far fewer this year than previous seasons).
International remains the "missing link" in gated lifts, given its quality of runs and vertical rise, particularly when the Double is closed or Eyre is crowded.
North P and Olympic are annoyingly lacking, mainly for bragging rights for "having done" the tougher stuff.
That said......the RFID system has increased my enjoyment and participation level by heaps......and I'm witnessing many others getting the "VM bug"..........Happy to Share! :D

I got 28 too. I did jump on FV carpet one day for giggles but didn't ride any j bars at Smiggs. Otherwise I rode every other lift bar rope toes and carpets.

Does North P still count as tougher stuff after they put a big fat groomer down it this year? It was good for ripping high speed runs away from crowds though.

They do run a groomer down from the top of the N P unloading area and it goes across to Interceptor and comes out near the mid station.
Maybe not every day and probably not when NP is closed, but its still a nice run and still pretty easy to access without the T bar having to be open, which keeps it nice and quiet.

if only it was 281 sleep ins - rather than 281 sleeps to go. sleeping in is nearly as good as first lifts ...

It's funny though...I've started the last few seasons with "I will not be a slave to vert" and "vert is not my mistress" lines.

I know how chasing vert can become too all consuming and you end up missing out skiing in areas not serviced by a lift with a scanner, which really is silly. But as the season progresses I start to obsess too much with the leaderboard.

I think this year, however, I managed to temper that obsession somewhat.....well, sort of o_O

This year featured a properly groomed run from top to bottom. Skiers right was groomed from the top of the T-bar, there was also a groomer across to skiers left which would then cross back under the T-bar to join the skiers right groomer. You could then bail out to Interceptor, or there was a groomer running all the way to the bottom of the T. Was more than just a single pass to provide the return route as seen in previous years, was 2-3 passes wide all way down.

First year I have ever seen it groomed to that extent, and it was definitely done every Saturday and Sunday during August.

I'm to keen to do little hikes for off piste skiing, or slack country or back county days to even consider chasing vert.
