yes, back on track please (just don't slip on the tiles in the toilet rooms while wearing ski boots )
Yet another benefit of snowboarding! (Granted, I favour bibs over pants, but at least the sole of my boot has some traction.)
Took a pre dawn walk up Mt P with @chicski and @DidSurfNowSki to view the meteorite shower. Early low cloud put paid to that but still fun with a good walk straight up then later on back via Vista and HV.... Lee getting the last bit of snow on Eyre HV gates a long way off the ground
At least Park Visitors are able to use a waste treatment facility whilst visiting Perisher, flaws and all resulting in the odd drama. There are many other places where there are no toilets or enough of them in national parks and the results are significantly worse. The Pink Lake in W.A is one such example. New Zealand now has "Do not poo in the bushes" signs around many of their "pristine" camping sites due to excessive contamination. Cameras are being installed and limits placed on overnight visitors. Things are unlikely to improve as populations just keep growing. I wish we could stop breeding (not so much the act!) for a while to take some pressure off our planet - just my opinion?
Decamped from Moonbah up to Eyre Cafe for a few hours to escape the heat and dust. A nice mild 25 degrees with a good breeze. Chook from Woolies and a few Coronas. Steve was there getting prepared for the annual Boxing Day opening. Shouted him a beer and had a good chat. Cafe has had a paint job inside and its planned for a water outlet (tap and or bubbler) to be installed on the Southern external wall for customer use. Replaces the old water esky that was outside. Summer opening will be 7 days a week from Boxing Day through the holiday period. Thereafter reduced back to Thursday to Sunday. To be confirmed. It’s drier than past seasons with less runoff into the drainage system around the cafe. @robbo mcs, Noel asked me to send his regards from the gate. Getting an early start on vm’s apparently . No sign of any Summer preparatory works on Mt P re the proposed new chair (2021) season. Did note some delimbing of low dead branches around the base of Eyre. Pics on the way out... Reckon I’ll head up there Boxing Day.....
It’s so Smokey we could have a snow storm coming and we wouldn’t even know it Edit: now can’t even see to the road from the lodge!!
Went for a to around the resort this morning. Is always mind boggling to look at the hills in winter. #Dont tell Normo I Parked in his spot!!
You get off through the side of the building. It's similar to the offload of the Village Eight. You can't see it in this picture.
Back in business. 9 to 3 for the holiday period. Folks turning up since early. Beautiful day however still lots of smoke about.
Was planning to be there but got roped into going to the dark side of the mountains. New gondola is coming along slowly......
How’s the serenity (and the carrot cake)? I might have to go for a day trip in the next couple of weeks to get an Eyre Burger fix. Hands up anyone else who’s going to do the same?
No sign of the infamous carrot cake @Ted Harper. But burgers, beers and coffees in full tilt. Always worth sitting out on the deck any time of year. Or on the lawn in Summer. It’s green but dry - much more so than the past few Summers.
