I think it's rude calling boys from The Kings School "big flakes", whatever you think of them.

Have just called it a day for today. Mt P getting very icy and windy. A few flakes starting to fall now and getting very very cold, with some very serious fog starting to roll down the hill here at smiggins. Looking promising!!!!!

So tomorrow morning. Aiming to get to Jindabyne approx 10.30am for some shopping. Then head to the ski tube approx 12.00.

    I'm approaching from the west.

Shall I do Wagga Wagga and then snowy mountain highway

    Or Khancoban alpine way

I've always done alpine way and used chains etc over many years, but I have a feeling that tomorrow morning it is going to have to be different

SMH more likley to have issues that Alpine way IMO.

Edit - actually i'm not sure, but either way will be fun.

Biggest problem on alpine way may be tree down or rock fall.
If you have a chainsaw you can probably overcome a tree down.

Both patrolled quite regularly so at 9am you'd think any issues would be dealt with. Numpty factor likely to be higher on SMH with traffic to Selwyn.

Have definitely had some deep runs through powder ridge. I'd love to see what a pow day looks like without a tee track. Would make for a great observation platform that chair

Nice evening for a Barbie. The snow will help clean up the hot plate. About to dump, so you should get a bit of sizzle off that hot plate soon.

Yes, we were trying to tune skis in an otherwise protected area here at Island Bend when an almighty bluster came from the North East; totally against the flow. It blew everying all over including a ski, toolbox and even worse, our beers. Not going to be a quiet night I can assure you! What greets us all in the morning is one of the reasons I love the Aussie Alpine region - who knows, but I'm up for the ride!

My concern with the Leichhardt chair is that powder ridge will be no more. It will do to Powder Ridge what the Freedom Chair did to the powder stashes at Guthega. It will attract thousands of punters who will not be able to resist giving the ridge a crack. I hope I am wrong.

Had an OK day today before heading to the car at 11.30. Snow was great but it was seriously cold. Queues around front valley were horrendous. None on Mt P but the double ride up was bone numbing. Not as many cars today but more people I reckon. Enjoyed a few runs first up on Front Valley with @Telemark Phat who even skis pretty well when he locks his heels in. Nice to meet @Snowy Joey at Perisher Mid. Always good to catch up with forum folk in person.

This is a reality I guess we’ll just have to face more and more as Vail increases investment in the resort. Double edged sword imo. Luckily for us experience of the resort will always give us the upper hand for where to hunt on a good day. The game continues...

-3.3 here in smiggins with a decent amount of wind.

20cm seems agressive though, feels more like 15cm to me here.

Yes, got 8 runs without any line ups on Leichhardt this morning before they took the Quad to mid station off wind hold and the hordes arrived. The wind & snow will permit freshies all day off powder ridge I suspect. Brumby sounds the go for similar reasons this arvo.

Does anyone have a vantage point to see if Sun Valley tbar is having any work done on the track? My educated guess is probably don't want to open for safety of punters?

Yes, they have closed it for milder winds before so I assumed every chair would be the last. Along with the new rope formations to encourage 4's on each chair, it is doing what they hoped it would. Tick.

I’m case anyone was wondering Brumby T-bar was (insert expletive here) epic!!!

Pleasant valley was pretty good, few rocky patches still, but nothing 10cm can’t fix. Run down from Interceptor (I think it’s called Link 2) looks ok for 20cm but definetly needs another good bit of snow.

    Epic day!!!

Is it worth the drive from Canberra with beginner kids tomorrow? I’m keen, just don’t want my 8 and 5 yr old to freeze. Looking at the weathe, most snow comes tomorrow night?

Tomorrow is not the day, for a first experience. Wind chill will be around minus 12. Unless you are very experienced at driving on snow and ice, and happy to fit chains in sub zero temparatures, I would not drive into Perisher tomorrow. Could think of nothing worse than spending the night on the road. Heavy snow is forecast for the afternoon.

Brutal but ok today. Leichhardt works no matter what the wind tried to do today. Happy Valley T had more rip your face off exposure than the chair. Go figure. No lifts on Mt P running this arvo when I popped up to meet steepettes. Front valley ok. Peeps hiding in the pub.

I just consulted the minister for war and finance. Leave approved. See you tomorrow Perisher. May just pack the skins just in case of wind hold or big queues on the Tbars. I suspect that the Brumby tbar may be a bit busier than the photo from @Jasper Schwarz shows from today. Yeew.
