Blue bird day, with a crow on the car.
There was that week in May (DoS) so far
I wouldn’t recommend it without the car park double chair running. You’re not only have to walk up the stairs, but then it’s quite a long track up to the t-bar. Track may be tricky too if not groomed
Oh shit yeah! I whinge the whole way!
Worth it though!
Track has been built for the Link but it looks pretty narly with some big bits in in. I can’t see it opening without some more snow......
In other news, Burke looks absolutely primed!!!
I am coming to Perisher for the first time in around 20 years (usually go to Falls) and I had a quick question regarding the Skitube. I am intending to drive up as it is only a 30 min drive from Jindabyne, but am I missing something, why do so many people pay that crazy amount of money to utilise the Skitube? There is obviously a reason for it or there wouldn't be the demand. Is parking usually a huge drama or something?
Just trying to workout my options when I come alone for an over night trip, and when I come with family.
I'd say a few far away frothers would have been glued to screens,
If you drive to the tube you don’t need chains or a NPWS sticker. It’s also lower so odds of snow are lower. Usually avoids some traffic too
thought your lodge was shut ?
No? Been saying for a while it’s open. Got some restrictions but nothing that’s to difficult.
The "convenience" of not having to with too much about road conditions. No chains required. No NPWS entry. No worrying too much about will I get a parking spot.
It’s also very very icy this morning up here. I would avoid driving if I could help it.
It's not typically as expensive as this year.
They have a high cost to discourage use.
But typically The Station resort, when they have full packages (accom, meals lifts) includes tube cost. Just for example.
Epic pass holders it's typically only a $50 add on for the tube season pass.
Nice. No wind. A few forumites on deck @Billy Jack @robbo mcs @hillyb.... a few guns still blazing away.
Rope tow ready to go....
The cow is looking great. And a Selfie as promised!!
Good to see your Covid safe attire!
the price for the Skitube add-on was reduced when the Freedom (now Epic) pass was introduced
since then I've only driven to Perisher when I'm doing DWA and I get a park pass gratis
I concur. Zalis is great this morning!!
First run of the season done
So much envy! Great work by the groomers. Resort looks amazing!
It's not "Very icy", it's "caution in the usual shaded spots". It's also not "Very cold", gonna be a lovely day that will soften under sunshine.
Yeah I didn't think it's was cold at 530am when I left Jindy this morning!
Excelerator is interesting....
Nice big chunks of ice waiting if you take a wrong turn but some nice stuff too!!
Need someone to video your style
Was up early for the rope drop
Ps. Used normos private facility
Does anyone know if it is possible to get to Blue Cow from Smiggin Holes with the current lifts?
I was literally about 30cm to the left of your photo of all the people
Not until they prep the Piper T. Probably after the next snowfall.
Job for a new groomer.. easily fixed , they just have to get to it. You can access Perisher from the top of the Duplex .. The run to Interceptor could be interesting.
Thanks guys. Is the free shuttle bus still running this year from Smiggin Holes to Perisher Valley?
Only 90000 metres to go.. Whats that 10 days..maybe 8
And there is no overnight parking at Perisher (with a few exceptions)
And not having to worry about slipping on the ice in the car park
And not having a long walk from the car to the slopes
And if you go to Blue Cow straight out the door onto the snow. There are only a few places where you can do this
And last time I had a season pass the tube was a $60 add on. We pay $85 for a NPWS pass.
as in 'don't do it'?
I'm not sure I heard that Interceptor is running, which is great if true
Interceptor is running
Fantastic bluebird day. Pic of main range from top of Pleasant Valley - Ventured a short way along the ungroomed/closed Pleasant View - bulletproof!
I can see Freedom quad finally running after being on hold this morning. Heading there after lunch. Speaking of which, chips with your sauce, boys?
You look lonely, where is the Jasper Pack?
Getting the rona...priceless.
Arriving tonight. Tomorrrow is gonna be good
In the mean time:
Heading over to Mt P. Guthega was getting busy and it’s time for lunch...
Btw mountain ops guy told me the link won’t open until early to mid next week.
Are we talking springlike conditions for middle of July? Sounds super warm up there in the day and icey every morning. Need some more cold days and actual weather systems from the west
Far too much positivity. Where's "Karen" ???
That looks like an orthopedic surgeons new Mercedes
