    You should arrive after 120 , it's a treat
It is also heavy slightly damp powder . It's good and fun , but not dry and fluffy , the dryer the easier .. I will keep skiing Mt P and the cow but 4 weeks practice .. lol enjoy Today

nasty line at the Triple ., poor Astro , think of the Sunny place with no lines ..but never say the name !!

@dawooduck and I decided to skip the crowds and head across to Guthega

We skinned up from the car park, boot deep powder all the way

    Hungry work, scroggen time

We tootled across to the top of the Freedom chair for a look.

The Aussieskier gear I’m told worked well.

    Unlike the chair

After a blast through the Aussie powder, it was beer o’clock.

I was wondering the same thing:)

Looking at the current forecast it looks a warm and :emoji_cloud_rain: end to the season.

Is it worth getting the storage wax off the skis?

Snow was quite good with deep powder sections on our first two runs down front valley & escapade, nice wind drifts on a firm base. Then we headed to Leichhardt, did the Cleft and powder ridge then it got busy so moved over to Mt P triple, did a few runs down international was heavier powder but perfect for snowboarding on, Mr 16 complained he needed fatter powder skis lol. Kept moving around to miss the crowds. Great day, people seemed more layed back then earlier in the year. Spotted a few forumites enjoying the late snow. We pulled the pin at lunch and drove over to DHG & Thredbo (closed lol) and ended up skiing down high noon as no one had touched it.

After surviving a Queue Darren at the V8 mosh pit - it turned into a truly stellar day. Lapped Happy then Sun Valley on ultra dry wind blown. Ignored closed signs all day. While sadly it was the last snowy day of season 2020 - it was great to enjoy all those sensations you get when it's truly cold, snowing and the wind is howling over MtP. Tomorrow should be a stunning blue bird day. Crowds will be steady all day. But alas it's a day trip home for me to collect the newly matriculated awesome boy skier. Yesterday was a big win for covid as I watched the HSC graduation streamed live to the trees of Eyre in a full blizzard. So much better than be trapped for 3 hours in the Great Hall at UOW while watching the snow cams light up on the phone screen. See ya all Monday at first lifts.

The crowds did settle down a little after lunch:). Late morning / early afternoon windblown started to come across the top of Eyre, Sun Valley and Olympic, which was actually some of the nicest skiing of the day;).

Unfortunately I have been carrying a bit of an injury, which was affecting my skiing today, and conditions were not really helping, so I bailed early. Need a couple of rest days I think before finishing off the season.

There are some impressive drifts around. This one at the top of vista, with others of similar size. This was bare heath 4 days ago:D

I’m still scratching my head a little about the snow conditions this morning. Don’t get me wrong, it was fantastic conditions. However, definitely seemed lighter on front valley / leichardt / happy v than Mt P, which is unusual. Also, thursday, when temps were barely below zero was much lighter and easier to ski than today when it was below -4C all night. Last year we had a day with similar falls and overnight temperatures which was just sensational, much, much lighter than today. Just goes to show, sometimes you can’t pick ito_O

Looking into my crystal ball .... actually looking at BOM and yr.no .... I see probable rain wednesday / thursday, followed by very warm temps and more rain Saturday / Sunday.

The resort will definitely have something on offer, but nothing like this weekend. The snow will deteriorate pretty rapidly. Even today, after 40cm, you could see areas of water flowing and worrying deep holes in the snowpack.

So I think the skiing will be slow, moisture affected snow. My predictions are V8, Quad, Leichardt, Triple chair and maybe Eyre, depending on how it holds up. The monday is often less, could just be a couple of lifts

Daughter and I had our DOTS today. Started slowly on FV with boot deep fluffy stuff, kept losing my balance, but never fell.

As the day progressed, the snow became my to my liking. Only did one lap of Towers, but didn't like the ruts lower down after the powder started to compress.

Lapped Leichhardt too many time, came back to FV. I think it skied the best of all.

After lunch the light flattened, and that became my epiphany and my ability, a turn for the better. I took @robbo mcs advice and used the feel. I have always been too focused on what's in front of me, humps, ruts, ice, grooves, speed etc.

With the light being so flat, I couldn't see any of the things that worried me, and I just felt my way, turned when I felt I should turn, absorbed the bumps, and just skied. I didn't tell how fast or slow is was going. I just had absolute fun. Skied my pants off.

Left the field around 430 with the biggest grin.

    Can't wait for tomorrow now.

Oh, and I almost scored some roadkill on Towers.

I little rodent like marsupial ran out in front me, I stopped right on top of it. It's tail just under the front tip of my ski. I thought at first a had done it some serious damage. Lifted my ski up and stepped carefully away. It stayed still till I was about 4m away from it, then it continued on its merry way.

What a day today turned out to be. I’ve only skied 25 days so far but today was definitely in the top 3 for me.
Aussie fresh all morning and then wind blown mid winter quality chalk the rest of the day. Somehow the snow just got drier and lighter as the afternoon went on. Very rarely do I ski 8am to 4pm in Oz but today was just one of those days that you just couldn’t stop :)
Tomorrow could be a cracking day touring if the weather clears up a bit.

What a fabulous day. It was a slow start having to put chains on in Thredbo to drive to the tube, only to take them off again at the rangers station. As first tracks finished last weekend I wasn't so bothered. I managed again to avoid any queue and lapped Eyre for most of the day, the windblown on the top half was my perfect snow, and fresh again each lap. A a top 5 finish for the day after starting late and finishing early. I am happy.
Tomorrow marks my final day and to reach a new goal 100v/m's. Should not be difficult with only 1.6 to go.
International got tracked after 2 runs and was heavy going by 930.
Glad everyone had a great day

    Great photos as always:thumbs:

Those action shots are very illustrative of the snow early today. Looks really slabby. You can see the surface breaking into cohesive slabs, rather than powder. Sign of a dense layer on the surface.

As you say it got lighter as the day went on. The dense layer got broken up, and then much lighter windblown came in in top:thumbs:

As @robbo mcs said ,Eyre was enjoyable to a point in the morning ,snow was weird - heavy in some spots and creamy in others - and then the crowd descended so used the escape route to Inter but the RF gates werent functioning and Inter was mashed potato within minutes.
I stuck it out on Eyre and ran into @Astro66 and @Lady Penelope - what happens on Eyre stays on Eyre eh @Astro66 ;) (looked funny from where I was standing at the time :p).
Eventually the crowds thinned leaving the top section pretty ok ,mid/crossover section a lumpy mess and the bottom section actually smoothed out a bit and became acceptable. Out wide never recovered and was a mess till I said enough at about 3pm.
After that I did a couple of Towers laps which were actually ok to be honest but vis was decaying and I was tiring so thought it better to go lower and so I finished the day at 4.20pm after the L chair closed. Goats Gully was in surprisingly good shape on the way home but nearly came unstuck on a poorly marked hole at the t bar crossing , good thing us kelpies can jump a bit LOL.
So a decent day all told with another 2nd place on todays VM leaderboard ,just cant crack a win .

Just going to start biting ankles I guess ,nothing else seems to work. I might just hang out on FV ,seems no one goes there after 9.30am.To be honest the crowd wasnt that bad ,end of ropes ,but I guess this year everyone got used to ski on even on weekends.

Eyre got busy as did the triple. Inter was ski-on as it had no gate. Surprises me that folks would prefer to queue for dashboard points rather than go sliding.

On a day like today I’d rather miss out on the VMs and spend more time skiing.

On a rubbish day I would queue for the dashboard:)

Welcome to the social media world, VM's are the holy grail. Don't worry about having a good time, just make sure you're dashboard looks good. Get out and enjoy yourself FFS, who gives a shit where you are on the leader board.

There are many and varied ways to enjoy skiing/boarding and if counting VM's or collecting dashboard badges is your thing then good for you.
I dont care all that much , my most used lift is Interceptor which is hardly a VM mine , sometimes I mention VM's or position just as a bit of fun.
I didnt use Inter that much today not because of having no RF gate but because I thought the top part of Eyre had the better snow and using Inter would have missed half of that. I just mentioned the RF gate not working because it wasnt.

That is super maddening. For our spur of the moment trip (decided yesterday afternoon) I looked at ticket availability for #1 son. Told him couldn’t come as I couldn’t get him day tickets. To late now as he has gone away surfing and I’m leaving at 04:00 tomorrow morning. That has really pissed me off.

On a happier note myself and my snowboard buddy plan to be on the mountain by 13:00 tomorrow, if not before. It would be nice to meet some of you guys and girls if anyone is around for the next 2-3 days. I have a pale blue Patagonia Jacket and red and black striped BC Camox skis. I’ll be with a snowboarder, but please don’t let that put anyone off from saying hello. He is mostly house trained.
