I am in Berridale today doing “round 2” of some maintenance work on my caravan. 9 degrees, wet fog and a cold southerly here now.

Have you been more successful in renewing the spot for next year?

After all the drama this year, getting ahead of the game seems beneficial

This year is the only time in 35 or so years that I have had a problem with them taking my money for the site rental, so I am hoping it was a one-off due to COVID and what seems a change in the underlying owning company structure for the van park. Will worry about the renewal when I get the invoice next Easter-ish. At the end of the day my van would be pretty hard to move and as long as I have made reasonable attempts to pay I reckon I would be ok to use it even if there was somehow a further issue with invoicing next year...

FWIW so far it looks like the stuff I took home to fix in Sydney is going back into the van ok - with only a couple of parts left over (that surely can’t have been all that important) :)

I’m going for Saturday May 29 for lifts to spin up on Front Valley. Earlier if we get a solid cold May.

Started out walking to Porcupine Rocks today with @Billy Jack @Annago @SalleeGirl, plus 1 and a few others. However the trail was too wet so settled for a walk from the base of the double chair up to the top of the quad.

Feral pig damage opposite side of the road from Eyre. And looking back.

    Heading Up

    Closing in.

    Topside.

On the way out noted some works going on. Pads being brought down via the triple and snow fan maintenance.

With some wandering about we logged just over 7kms and a tad over 340 vertical metres.

Arguably off-topic but I just got back from the printing/framing place a photo I took a couple of months ago from near the top of the top T-bar at Guthega looking across to the main range. Taken from a spot where back in the day (seems like a lifetime ago) I used to stop for a break and to have a Mars Bar with my dad, and it is just about my favourite place in the whole world.

Have a photo from virtually the exact same spot with ol' timer ski buddies who "adopted" me and got me back into skiing. Only two surviving now and the youngest is 82. Yep, it's a special place with happy memories and some dreams to be fulfilled.

My desktop background on my laptop is a pic I took at Guthega when skiing with my daughter in 2003, so she would have been 10yo. Looking the opposite way from the t-bar, towards where the freedom chair now runs. I remember it was a beautiful bluebird day after a storm the night before. Cold too, my 2003 era digital camera stopped working at some stage because of the cold weather

Thanks! It printed really well; the framing place has some uber printer which I think deserves a lot of the credit. I just wish I had taken it with something better than the 5-year-old iPhone (7) I had at the time. I have a shiny new phone now with apparently a much better camera; won't help my photographic skills any, but one thing less to blame at least ;)

Ted, do you feel able to give the framing place a plug? I have a few pictures that I would like to print but haven’t had much luck so far. Do not do it if you would prefer not to

They have done various bits and pieces for us over the years and I haven’t really tried anywhere else. Nice people - the owner’s son (who works there) used to race at Guthega when he was a young’un. Small world, eh :)

And just like that it was gone.... @Interruptedbyfireworks. Just did the little walk up Eyre with @Annago and @SalleeGirl early this morning. Had other plans but abandoned them in favour of the walk.

Alpine looking reasonably bare as well.

    Top of Mt P

The snow fence will be repaired in the off season. The resort put the replacement rails in situ during Winter while there was snow available to get it up there. Shows how much snow falls given we were skiing over the top rail at the exit point season before last.

    Just a few other pics......

    Last bit on Olympic

Not a hard walk and good to be out in the fresh air......

Just got an email from Vail suggesting we get our Epic Pass accounts ready as Reservations open tomorrow!
I sure hope they are talking about the northern Hemi resorts as I'm still getting over my account troubles at Perisher last season during the 'reservations' period (Winter 2020)!

Yep, Epic Reservations opened for N. America on Nov. 6. Went smoother than in June in terms of the Queue-It "waiting room."

Still plenty of complaints on social media by people who had account problems. Saw a comment about having 2500 ahead of them for phone or chat support.

Sure miss that drop off the Triple down in to Sun V. Hopefully we get another season without the Cross Course wrecking the SV. But suspect they'll build it even bigger in 2021.

Woke up to a stunning vista...so green, a touch a white here abd there up high, and just a touch of breeze.
A good day for a couple of chores and then see how the wild flowers are preparing for summer

Kind of odd eh? - the time the place looks the absolute worst is at the arse end of the ski season when it is a sloppy brown muddy mess. Looking quite respectable today.

Briefly caught up with a few forumites (and others) last night, @SMSkier , @hipo , @Annago , which was great:) We were talking about bushwalking around the resort, and Steve Inspired me;) So today I bushwacked my way up the hill out wide of Eyre, along the top ridge line then back down towers. The heath was thick:eek: Everything was familiar, but very different. Fortuitously I just happened to bump into @hipo at the bottom, as he was having a poke around as well, and I snaffled a lift back up the road:D

    A few pics

“The Rock” at the top of Eyre / come back again

    Shiftys sign

    My favourite hardy tree

Still a few drifts around. This one is deceptive in the photo, it is around 1.5m deep at the back. I then went to walk across it and promptly fell on my backsideLOL

Looking down the slope from out wide

So, after the chores yesterday, cruised down to Jindy for a excellent coffee in the old town overlooking the lake - very pleasant along with a bit of a yarn with @dawooduck and the BWD's
Then a wander around the resort snapping off a few photos of:
    the wildflowers making an appearance

The long winding service road up towers

And the things we ski over at the Mt P double load

Bumped into a somewhat weary @robbo mcs

He did have a soft excuse for the tired legs.....up at 6.0am to ride from JIndy up to Charlottes and back, then drive up to Eyre, hike to the top of Mt P and down to the double - well done:thumbs:
