Not going to help anyone that was there this weekend. If it turns up in the sewage without any mitigation from Vail I'll see you all late July because none of us will be skiing.
It was in the sewerage down here last season. We still kept skiing.

I haven’t heard about Perisher but Thredbo was apparently nuts with new arrivals.

So we have around a dozen cases in a population of 5,500,000 in Sydney and it is certain to head on a ski holiday? More chance getting it in a lodge or the shops than on the hill but I am sure masks/face covering will be introduced in due course.

There was a plausible explanation for the positive in the sewage last year (shedding from a previous positive)

I am fully vaxed :) but still wary to a degree. I go into the Perisher Centre only early morning before the lifts startup and by choice continue to wear a mask. Distancing is now impossible though.
The absolute stupidity at present is the lack of Recognition for the vaccination
If you are full of 'it' you should be good to go anywhere anytime , with a less than 10% throughput of the lurgy what more do we want ..
I will have Pfizer x 2 for August and expect to be here and why not
Time for the states to be corrected ?

On an aside the single line at Leichhardt is a wonderful invention, BC tomorrow

Blue Cow was great to be at! The lack of lines more than made up for the limited number of runs open.

Love this pic out the back of Heidi's. Taught my 2 boys ( 9 and 10 at the time) to ski on this little slope about 10 years ago. Spent a few hours on their first ever day, just dragging them up the slope with a ski pole, and letting them get the basics of sliding, turning and stopping - away from the madness of the ski schools on the magic carpet just across the carpark. Next day, they were ready for the triple chair. The day after that it, it was Mt P and Blue Cow/Zalis. They haven't looked back since. Great times!!
This was the view from the back steps looking back up. Almost looks the same day .. only it was 10 years ago

Somewhere surfy or snowy
Of which, looks busyish already
So what do you reckon - too crowded for a day trip tomorrow to be worth it? The cameras strategically don’t give any idea of the lift queue or carpark busyness so I’m pretty reliant on on-the-ground observations.

The Gunama Lodge cam shows Smiggins carpark as being quiet so if I drive down I’d likely park there, test out the rebooted food place at J-bar Land then bus up to Perisher.

I left at 11 to head back to Newcastle. Perisher carpark was full, maybe 150 metres of cars parked alongside the road past Tube Town.

I didn't get to BC, people who've been there over the weekend reported queues not bad.

Maybe beeline from the shuttle bus to the tube?

Summit & Terminal at 11:20 this morning.

V8 was out of action for about 30min this morning but Crowds not too bad so far. Did a number of laps of the Quad and Liechardt this morning, probably less than a minute wait most times.

I haven't posted for a while, but watching eagerly as heading to Perisher for the first time in a long time. Re the Car Park being full on weekends, this is defiantly nothing new, I worked in Jindy from 1994 to 99 and also was in that vicinity early 2000s and hardly ever went up on weekends as was always too busy. If I did, I would always drive to Guthega, but even then it was busy. Or we went up mid arvo after work to get parks from people who had left. and there were cars parked on the road from Perisher to Smiggins and further down!! I think we just forget?

Nah... this is many factors worse than years past.
We're talking traffic jams of 10kms to Perisher.

Car park was stupid, crazy busy last season with no ski tube operation. Car park well and truly full by 08:30. Hopefully they don't stop the tube service this season. Fingers crossed.

I had family commitments this morning so went up at 2pm.

A friend reported earlier that smigs was quiet. I debated going there, but chose to go to blue cow instead.

Not to many people about, no queue at summit, tiny queue at terminal. Until the 2pm Inter school lessons, seemed strange, but def race training.
