1. Day 3. The sun did rise :) Looks like a cracking day. Can see it in the distance from the home paddock.

3. This day 2 seasons back. Just shy of the resort with @Billy Jack @Goanna @skifree.

I would hazard at a guess that if they are bulldozing the terrain park then they must be either going to re-build it, or, more likely, they think the season is done and dusted and they won't be re-opening......cause lets face it, if these 'rona cases are exploding in regional NSW, the case numbers aren't going down in Sydney & getting higher in ACT, it's goodbye Season 2021 surely.....?

I would normally skin in the resort when it’s not open. Did just that in May - several times.

But, no way would I do it (in resort) in the current circumstances.

Plenty of alternatives (currently) outside of the resort boundary and as long as there’s adherence to the health orders, probably a smarter option. Just IMO.
Makes sense, cheers!

An article popped up in ABC Illawarra yesterday about the catastrophic effects the current lockdown is having on Snowy Mountains businesses as well as South Coast NSW areas such as Batemans Bay / Mogo, after Canberra was sent into lockdown they are really hurting
to be fair, this is happening across the entire state ATM.
acknowledge some regions/areas have been hit harder than others.

I went up to Perisher for my daily exercise today, and went for a socially distant walk. Went from front valley, along the cat tracks through centre valley, Mt P chairs and across to Eyre. Very peaceful and serene.

I have walked around there many times in summer, but really weird to do it with a lot of snow, and nobody around. It is like time has stood still, the chairs stopped, ski tracks in the snow frozen in time.

Surprisingly quite a few cars in the car park. A few maintenance staff and patrollers around. Saw a few people nordic skiing, and others skinning nearby. A few borders had built a rail and jump near pipers creek.

Spoke to Steve at Alpine Eyre, he was cleaning out the joint, not expecting to be back.

For anyone heading up for exercise, the skitube building and toilets were open, and the burger joint was open for drinks and food, although I didn’t go there. Roadworks on the road too, taking the opportunity in the quiet conditions

I would assume that grooming the runs would minimise damage if any r*** happened.
I just had a look at the cameras, grooming at Perisher but not Blue Cow or Smiggs, Guthega too hard to tell. My guess is they don't care about damage at the other 3 areas. I think the marketing department will make sure they reopen if allowed, maybe even extend the season. Just to stick it up the other place.

I don't get that. Seems like a waste of time. Why not just let it melt?

I think that is a given. If they do reopen it will be Perisher only.

Realistically, I think the lockdown lifting at the end of this week is the only chance for a reopen. If a decision is made to extend the lockdown, which is likely, it is hard to see what would change in another week etc. So if it is extended, it will run a while, and then hardly seems worth it for Perisher.

Quite a bit of grooming at Perisher btw

September is sell Epic passes time so if unlocked I am sure we will see the Perisher side open.

School holidays are early from the 17th Sept so if they reopened on the 2nd Sept they would get in a good 4 weeks for the regional areas. Big IF they end lockdown with NZ just going into one as well.

Snowy Monaro LGA is entwined with the ACT.
The ACT will be locked down till October.
It would be madness to open up.

Even if no one is there they are still the occupiers of the resort and owe duties of care to people on their land - even trespassers. Having potentially dangerous structures available for randoms to hurl themselves off increases potential liability. Plus their insurers might have something to say.

Early this year when I looked at booking I was gobsmacked by the rates being asked.
I nearly booked for the first week of September because it was "cheaper" but decided even those prices were just too much.

Glad I didn't now.

The pictures are so beautiful and so sad at the same time. I hope the ACT and NSW regions can reopen that's the only chance I can see for the rest of the season but I can't see how businesses can keep staff on indefinitely with no guarantee of reopening. On a lighter note my daughter hiked to Porcupine Rocks today and boarded back but no pictures unfortunately. Also, the Man is open for takeaway as well.

I'd love to believe I'll be skiing again with y'all but I think our season is done.

That said I fully expect Vail to do everything in their power to keep Perisher open. So I think they will re-open if they're allowed to, and continue running no matter if it's just Normo and the carpark attendants enjoying themselves.

But for the rest of us common plebs our season is done.:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

The staff do seem fairly optimistic , but know one knows . Stopping Canberra was important apparently..
We went for a walk down Link Road yesterday , to look at Ridge , it's a great perspective of that side of the resort
Sadly even before lockdown there were rumours of closure
Let's see , I have plane flight on Sunday in case they lock us out.

Totally agree , I am here alone , with a mate , my transport in Jindy , flight home on Sunday night ..
Moved a lot of firewood and snow in the carpark.
Will hang just in case I can ski from Sunday
Can travel home until the 29/8
But then the dreaded Q.. not sure why we locked down here
If like some think it was Canberra folk , why not stop them on the highway .,? Is that too hard

Northern Beaches, Sydney,
Interesting the same thought process of a lot of people in here go through exactly the same steps as those of us in Sydney
1. Why are we locked down. There are no any cases around me so we should be fine
2. Its only a week, hopefully we are all back and skiing this time next week
3. Acceptance of the inevitable

Very Very sucky situation for us all to be in. Im juts hoping I can get down there now by christmas time. Have some plans for my 21st that I'm really hoping we can still do
