You absolute LEGEND ROBBO.. Weatherzone facebook STAR..I went for a wander around. Lovely morning, sunny and clear, but cold and windy.
The snow is in pretty good shape. Always amazes me how it bounces back after rain, with a cold night and a bit of fresh. The fresh stuff is light and blowing around.
Looking down towards pretty valley from mid
Olympic and Sun valley looking inviting
View towards Sun Valley
Little memorial at Sun Valley . Sadly, two deaths in relatively recent years close to the t-bar load. Stopped and had a silent moment here.
Burnum Burnum loooking the goods. Sun and Burnum both benefitting from windblown with this wind direction
Definitely some meltage though, the sun valley creek showing through
Looking back up Happy Valley
Not many people around. I saw Kev split boarding and stopped for a chat
on ya robboCarpark then along the road towards Interceptor. Up behind lodges then through some nice gentle terrain to the trig point above interceptor. Ski back down on fresh then skin up to a point a few hundred metres short of the trig. Ski down to HV base. Up the groomer to top of FV. Ski to car, coffee and done. A couple of us out there @Goanna @SalleeGirl @hillyb. Well distanced as usual with one pair starting 10 mins behind.
Still variable conditions. Pretty windy and that’s impacting the surface. But also providing decent skiing on the right aspects. Noted that Zalis was fully groomed.
IMO @cornice12 its not being wasted, just sadly leveraged by a lot less folks. However…I agree with your sentiment
Noticed a decent sized excavator has been positioned……
Since the lockdown, I have found it difficult to get out of bed at the usual 5:30am, despite early mornings being the best time for skinning up. There's something that drives the 'normal, ski resort open' early morning rise; like (a) beating the traffic up the hill, (b) getting a good parking spot, (c) short, sharp conversations with Normo pre-queuing, (d) the banter in the queue for first lifts and (e) the quality of early morning skiing before the crowds take over. Lockdown rises at circa 8:30am, very long breakfasts, re-reading the news a few times and so on just aren't cutting it atm!Was worried about that. So got in and out early.
Tell them not to bother ,stay home anyway. So sad to hear that lockdown is continuing for the Snowy Monaro LGA.
One bright note, if I am reading it correctly, is that fully vaccinated Sydney people can travel to the regions on 18 October, just in time to see the last snowflake melt.
