I earned a few today…..Lots of folks at PV and especially around Eyre. Plenty of works going on in resort. But, that gate is open :) ….with @Goanna @SalleeGirl who were paired up and out of nowhere bumped into @rocketboy LOL… Sunny, windy and skied fine. That new snow packed so dense.

Has to be one of my favourite little “go to”places for a brief ski anywhere in the mountains.

Looking back towards PV and a sneak view of tomorrow’s target. It’s a drop in and has a decent steep…

That last is a nice line. Even better when you can run it thru the trees, quite often gluey slop at tree level.

Does anyone know if the Perisher staff/call centre can help with admin stuff for US Epic Passes? Are the systems connected?

Snow was soft to start with at circa 8:30 a.m. And stayed that way. You needed to be done within a few hours. But it skied ok.

And since yesterday the Snowy Hydro folks took measurements at the Spencer’s Creek measuring locations. You could see they boot packed up then around the site. It was clear where the samples were cored. They had not updated the data when I looked but that could have changed this afternoon.

These pics at the sample site.

Driving past the resort, there’s still plenty of snow but it’s melting quick. Just as you’d expect this time of the year.

Couple of others skinning up…@SalleeGirl @Goanna

Can anyone drop a pin on a map to show exactly where the Spencer's Creek sample site is please? I thought it was in the valley, around where there was a little knoll (a old lump of terminal moraine perhaps)? But these photos suggest it's on the slopes of a bigger hill?

I'm not sure that is a good idea, Snowy Hydro probably wouldn't be too happy about the location being spread far and wide. Not every viewer of this forum is a fine upstanding citizen.if someone wants to let Mr Bear know where it is a PM may be more appropriate.

I thought that maybe @skifree did that a while back?

Past Spencer’s creek bridge, parking and gate then it’s around a few bends. First park on the left opposite the flat open valley. Look across the road and your there. The poles marking the sample spots mostly stand out. There are a few amongst the trees though.

That sounds like a good little trail of crumbs, thanks!

AFIAK there isn't one site but a number of sites in the SC area where the depth is taken and the reported SC depth is the average of those sites

They were packing up yesterday by the time I descended. Parked behind me actually, gave me a thumbs up when I was putting skins on again at the bottom haha.

Yep. It’s been written about plenty in various forums. The site is several hundred metres square. Marked by steel posts. I don’t think hydro would be concerned about folks ski touring there. It’s just an open field per my pics over the past 2 days. No measuring instrumentation per sey. Some colour marking on posts. The core drill holes are barely noticeable unless your looking and they take them each time in the vicinity of each pole. Sometimes more than one core at each as I noted yesterday. Depths measured at each then averaged out. As also covered elsewhere, they are moving to other methods of measurement.

The parks crew were hard at work at the Guthrie’s park last night. Great weather for it today, the snow turned to just pure slush by about 2pm but I managed to get some skiing in between the park laps LOL Not as busy up there in general today, but still a few people out and about.

I have posted this image several times before in different threads.
I made in 2006 based on information Snowy Hydro were happy to give me when I asked them so I don't think are too worried about people knowing where it is.

Got any more pics of the set up up there? Is it DIY crew or actual CP staff building these features?

What could anyone do? Move the poles? Build a big pile of snow at one of the sites? The SMA folk might notice.

I often ski right past the BOW AWS at Perisher. Sometimes when there is a storm happening, I get an urge to throw a big pile of snow in the precipitation funnel, just to send the forum weather watchers into a frenzyLOL

DIY, it was myself actually haha. The box surface is 3m long, made as three sections. I'll be making a few changes to it though. Pic is at the end of the day, when packing up. Good for practicing, but I wouldn't go to the effort of setting it up everyday.

It was foggy, wet and quiet in the resort this morning. T’s removed off Mt P area lifts. Still snow cover about. Waiting for the predicted snow forecast for sometime later in the week…..if there’s a decent snowfall they may shut that gate for a few hours.
