Some accumulation now. I know it’s not the Vallee Blanche but our own Vallee Happy is skiing happily with a couple of cms on top.,

Was much better than expecting tbh. Not good. But better

In other news Telemark is broken again. And yes I did go full Karen when I got to the bottom of piper.

Pretty Slow Valley was faster up than down. Five and done.
Overall a good reminder of why Perisher Carpark sucks and the Petri Dish on rails is way more fun.

When it’s frozen solid, down piper and skate down the road to the Perisher building. Almost same amount of walking
Did it this morning which was a mistake, but when it’s slick down piper, still doable I’d think
Gee the cams are showing some flakage.
Is this like the last major breakage - that ended up not being fixed before end of season as they sent the wrong part. I expect they'll throw the kitchen sink at this one and get it fixed asap. The whole park-at-smigs gig depends on this - IMO way easier to park at Thredbo river and catch a train ... que ... breakdown horror stories from the Ghost Tube.
looks like a gearbox, they fail often enough, can be fixed in a week, in the past.

Have done a few routes including one requiring descending a small cliff with ropes and harness. Was a little surprised that guides would do that with a bunch of “tourists“ but there you go. Weirdness weather wise today.
Hopped on the V8, pouring rain. Get to Mt P, rain at the bottom, snow top 2/3. One run later snowing heavily top to bottom. Continued to snow, accumulated and actually got pretty good. Then right around 11am snow stopped, got foggy and got wet to the top again. I left at that stage, to find my car covered in wet snow. However, from the posts and cams, looks to have then commenced snowing again.
Really quite weird, right on the edge.
Best bit was because it was marginal nobody bothered to go up Mt P. When it got quite good, was lapping around Eyre for an hour with only @SMSkier , @Jasper Schwarz and George (troub1efree) around. All in all, a much better day than I expected at 8am

Pretty weak day rain then snow then rain , for about 1cm if that down low
Eyre might be worth a look tomorrow
I think there are other contenders , maybe the triple from Mt P could be used from Smiggs across to Somewhere FV or Hw ?
Load each way like keoghs/the orchard at hotham to replace telemark and piper
Telemark should be scrapped so should Piper. Use the space for something else, Ideally revenue generating for the following suggestions.
Upgrade the Smiggins Wills T bar and Burke T bar to a 6 seat chairlift and build a run down to North Perisher T bar over the back of Mt Piper. Replace north Perisher T bar with a North Perisher quad chairlift. Then create a link run from the top of North Perisher quad to Pleasant valley quad and to Ridge Quad (split the Smiggins traffic). That way you link Smiggins to both Perisher and Blue Cow and those crappy telemark/piper T bars and runs are closed forever.
Telemark is required by all the lodges to the north of Sundeck. It must stay in some form.
Looking for some advice. Heading down for a ski either tomorrow or Thursday. With the incoming conditions is it worth a long drive, or would it be unpleasant skiing conditions? Which of the next two days would be best? Thanks for any recommendations.

Nah if the T bars were removed you could close the runs and build a road with overnight parking. Guests and Lodges would love it.
Just coming down from CBR. Is there much rain damage to the base?
Mainly concerned with the Nordic trails.
Ski in ski out beats parking.
