Tennis yesterday was somewhat surprisingly ok - the breeze arrived just at the right time. The gym today was much worse!
peaked at a very bearable 41, provided you stayed indoors/aircon. At noon, when it was still only 39, we walked tot he shops and did some grocery shopping
We had a mate and his 2 sons over with our two , setup a couple of side pools to splash around in under shade umbrellas and fed them intermittently while we chilled in the aircon inside. Was actually good but glad the power didn’t go out.
Need to be in or on water. It’s glorious out on the water where it’s 5-10c cooler. Family n friends out on various crafts this weekend. Wish I was !
We spent the majority of the day at the OBH drowning our sorrows. The sights you see in Australia at Christmas at 40 degrees...
It is now. Southerly has brought some smoke up mean while most of the coastal stretch north of two rocks to ledge point where we frequent has gone up
Its currently raining in Perth Unfortunately humidity is very high. I suspect the rain is hitting the ground and instantly turning to steam
Even our grid is committing self immolation against the heat...? Great news for Christmas Lunch Preparations: Stu Pengelly successfully cooked a pork roast in his old Datsun in the scorching Perth sun last week. (Stu Pengelly / Facebook)
Stirling Range under siege now: Currently downgraded as a Watch and Act with another chance of an upgrade tomorrow AM.
A 'wetish' week for the sandgropers this week as an anomalous trough establish itself off the SW of the state. Usually you get those heat troughs biting in on the inland but this one has some interesting moisture feed. Won't be ground breaking falls but reasonable chance of summer showers and plenty of storm potential this week.
Must have been 10-20mm of rain on Saturday down in the Stirling Range, the local rain gauges are reporting 4.6mm, but it was way more than that. Great news for the parks recovery.
Was a brief deluge in Canning Vale Offspring sent me a video of the pup shaking and cowering in his closet... poor doggo... she hates storms.
About 90 minutes or so ago was a fantastic splitting of cells NW of Mandurah. One ended up turning left and fizzing out just north of town, the other turned slightly right and is still out over the water. Pretty interesting stuff.
Nice meso bow-echo-like cell moving North to South along Western fringe of the Darling Scarp RN. Incoming if you're in the Northern burbs.
Ahhh great... I’m not home to check there were no leaks or branches down before the next home open. But nice to know we are getting some moisture in the West.
I am so annoyed!! I was getting all excited with great expectations, and then it parted and completely missed us, with rain gauges barely measuring a trace.
It was over pretty quickly really, but complete chaos in some areas. A car was crushed by a tree not too far from my place, and being bin night around here, there was rubbish all through the streets. Plus plenty of fallen branches.
