I've just about locked this in for next March. Got a mate whose been 6 times now and just got back from 2 weeks there. Another guy I know has had about a month there and just flew back on the weekend also. If you follow PN on FB you'll know what an amazing experience they've had in the past couple of weeks. Ticked off all the big peaks. I'm a little concerned about the exposure as I don't seem to have the head for heights that I did in my younger days when I was a climber and I suppose the only other niggle is what happens if you get socked in for the majority of time you are there, which did happen to another mate about 5 years ago.

Planning on having a debrief with the guys but I'm 99% sure I'm going to do it.

    IIRC you've been before @Nozawaman ?

Following your trip with so much enthusiasm Chris

Can I tag along LTB ?

I am thinking of Japan to warm up and then on to Alaska for two weeks. Need to do this, the mind is aching for Alaska.

    Absolutely DWD

It's drop offs like these that have me a bit edgy, but I reckon I could suck it up for the pow that would follow. That's my mate looking down and probably a bunch of Melb people know TJ from Surrey Ski and Board (shop now closed) second from the left.

Don't you worry about that there now .....drop offs and spine walks like that make me edgy as well.

But hey ..... that is why we go to such places !!!!

Got the goods today ...... some nice STEEP lines , which were very levelling for me hahaha .
The thing I took away from today was your not as good as you think you are . I go pretty hard and found today that I had to dial my charging back and actually think about what line I wanted , and manage the slough in the process , it was very character building to say the least .

Entry point for this was the dip between the two peaks .

This is the drop in for our next run ....

Yesterday was my last day had 9 runs , was ultimate days skiing . I can't praise the crew here at Points North enough .
A trip every serious skier / boarder should do .
The area we started in was called Red Light District
We skied the big face to the left and exited at the choke at the bottom
    [IMG]

We bagged the last couloir on the right
    [IMG]

This is from the bottom of the previous pic

    Boom!

    Locked and loaded.

Just committed to 2 weeks start of March. Fraction early but I can't go any later as one of my close mates who is coming with me has business commitments second half of March and then I've got swimming commitments with jnr miss LTB late March into April. I'm assured it will be fine. A little colder but apparently the powder can be "nipple deep" (TJ's words)

Super pumped and cannot wait. Wall sits and squats already started. :D :woohoo:

Well, we got our first day in the zone yesterday and it was insane. They'd been locked in for the first 10 days of the season and had about 3 feet of snow in the zone. No-one had been out and the savvy danger was pretty high so we were all super nervous. It was absolute bluebird, 40cm of blower pow and we bagged 10 runs between 35-50 degrees, average about 3000' vert. For those who've been we started off around Targhetee (?), then moved to Bullseye and then around Beers for Alzie. Needless to say, we were thrashed by the end of the day. Saw a couple of slides release on the steep sunny faces and our guide set off one small slab as he was cutting but other than that, we felt pretty comfortable most of the day.

Currently on standby to fly today. A bit of cloud this morning but is supposed to clear by midday and then be bluebird again for the rest of the week.

    A few pics.

If you look closely you can see our lines. This was some nice low angle (35 deg) to get started.

One of the best runs of the day - sustained pitch, super long, blower pow. We did this twice :D

Lines are a bit messy but this was pretty steep. I think this was Beers for Alzie

A lot of Aussies seem to choose pnh, if it was surfing we'd be worried about keeping it a secret but luckily numbers are capped.
I think Heinz has done Anchorage, and I know SPG did Anchorage buy everything else seems to be PNH.
If I went back I reckon I'd try a week at each, or even try Haines, a week was too short and it's so far...

I did a week with CPG out of Girdwood (Alyeska) and another one with Heli-Camps out of Valdez in 2000. CPG were definately the more professional operation.
