Saturday Night Looks Good too now on ACCESS R. But TEMPS better during the week.
I'm no snow forecaster but with the low sitting just off the antartic shelf I was wondering where the moisture would come from for Wednesday's dump. And generally Vic would do better than NSW from bread'n'butter SW systems would they not!?
This arvo's GFS looks good for those restricted to weekends for the next couple of weeks. Just stay cold and snowy till friday night please system.
Based on the GFS I should see you out there on the Friday. HMM-MM were do you session. Need to overnight it to really nail it with the dry stuff.Be good to meet you out there in the snow cave that "Bloke & Co" might Dig for Us if they show up. Who knows maybe even the feral goat from Brogo might turn up. But heaven forbid the Franksters from Tathra they will rob you of your line. .
EC going for Sunday clearing Monday / Tuesday.
GFS going for Wednesday - Thursday Clearing Friday.
Bom going with everything. i am on board with BOM access.
But this will change no doubt
This is my first time so please tell me if I'm out of line. 2 things required for snow, moisture and cold air, very cold air. Sat. should produce a nice 5 to 10 then Wed up to 20. After that who knows, anything could happen. I was born and raised in the North East of Vic and helped dig the lifts out at Mt. Buffalo in 1964 when there was 3 meters of snow there. That was a cold and wet year. I enjoy reading all the posts and every one has a different view of what's about to happen. I still believe a dropping air pressure and dropping temps mean more than anything else. Have a nice day and enjoy the fresh, dry snow that will fall tomorrow through to Thursday. Not a lot of it but great quality.
Casper has been a bit bent out of shape..
I predict I'll be able to provide observations from PV for the week starting Sunday
EDIT : I still like Casper
One day out, any updated predictions?
Divergence, convergence...possibly something on Saturday, Sunday, Monday - possibly something else on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
Glengary has had a go. Anyone else prepared to give it a crack regarding falls?
I'm sure you regular contributors do realise, but there is a large crowd of silent lurkers riding the roller coaster of every system(s) - so no pressure
I will stick my neck out and say 50-60cm by first tracks Thus.
I predict I am going to be a very happy vegemite this time next week at perisher starting 9 days of skiing
EC looking very good for Wednesday on this afternoon's runs IMO.
Really quite hard to get a good handle on totals. TBH
NSW looks to do better in the first phase of the system.
I'm thinking 30-40cm for NSW for Saturday & Sunday
20-30cm for Vic
Then for Sunday - Monday 10-15cm (both NSW & Vic)
Then Wednesday 20-30cm NSW & Vic - but I'd be careful that estimate, as the models are far from settled about the strength of the Wednesday front.
The moon says ..... snow
At Marg River it used to mean surf as well Always wonder how the moon manages to do both so well?
Thanks guys, I'll be contributing in the obs thread for the rest of the week.
Anyone willing to predict Sunday's conditions, particularly at Perisher? 100kmh winds with kids = not pleasant at all! Was planning a day trip tomorrow ...
This is Wind tomorrow from 7 am in 3hr increments. Speed is in knots. More Red = Bad
i predict we will sleep in!
Anyone willing to make a prediction on whether a) it will snow in Hobart at sealevel on Monday and b) chances of it settling, and how much?
This will be the first settled snow in the CBD ( if it comes off ) for 30 years but no one is touching it. Even Ms Jane Bunn has gone quiet, in the past we could rely on her for a Tas forecast ( no one else bothers ).
I think Hobart a better chance on Thursday and Friday
If you look at the current sat picture you can see the super cold pool sw of Tassie. Apparently Hobart can get caught in some sort of rain shadow and miss out when other locations at sea level get snow you would need to talk to someone from Tassie.
Agree and so are the mainland resorts
Wed still looking good
Upgrade for Tue IMO
Tue GFS upgrade IMO
Has a low developing of the NSW coast And spag watchers is it casper.
BOM suggesting snow above 600 M NSW CT's on Wednesday
Wow that's low long way out but interesting weather coming up.
Well Saturday was a bust
Still 'on' from this evening. Good riding tomorrow.
3rd > has always had a better vibe IMO. The wind got me thinking a better outcome was possible for this weekend.
Yeah bom has perisher and thredbo min of -10 on tuesday! First double digits I've seen in a while
High and wide...
Radar looking promising for BB if the temps stay low, hopefully another top up tonight
Late Sun/Early Monday looking better on this run IMO
Still liking the period from late 4th till early 6th ( Tuesday to Thursday) for maybe 20 - 25 cms.
Agree very cold now big freeze coming 20 to 25 maybe more
